8chickens Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I have been staring at this little white box for a while now..what to write in it. Three and a half weeks post break up I feel desperate and my feelings are scaring me. Can someone please help me.

There's a lot of hope on this site and you can see people who are in the early and desperate stages like you, and we see the people who have almost recovered. This gives hope because most people start off where you are but do manage to get better. I personally fell into a deep depression and didn't even want to be here anymore but now I'm starting to have a bit of hope. My advice is as follows: - Keep coming on this site. There are some fantastic people on it who will be there to listen when you need to vent and give you advice when you need it. - Go to counselling / therapy. I've started to avail of this over the past few weeks and it's really been helping. - If necessary speak to your GP. Breakups are emotionally devastating and sometimes we need a bit of help i.e. antidepressants, sleeping tablets (lack of sleep causes depression) or simply someone to talk to. - Speak to your friends and family - Read... I recommend Paul McKenna's "I can mend your broken heart" and Susan Elliot's "Getting past your break up." These two books have fantastic reviews on Amazon (almost flawless in fact). I have started using them and they are really starting to help. - Cut contact. I'm a bit of a hypocrite because it took me so long to do this, but once I did things started to become a lot easier (even though I'd never have believed this before)
