Ginger Beer Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Oh, this happens very widely and goes beyond nightclubs. I've seen women, working on a library, hushing a co-worker to come to the woman' bathroom to fix a pipe. but he knows pipes as much as I know African history. Half an hour later they come out of it all flustered and with their clothes disarranged. It can happen anytime, to any man. One of the reasons why I can't take women seriously. Seen too much, went through stuff too much, and I have no illusions about human nature. Yeah, I've no doubt it happens and I've had numerous close female friends who would tell me the stuff they've got up to (and bitch about their friends too) so I can imagine. But I believe there are some genuine, honest and decent women out there. I don't want to think they're all bad.

Kamille Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 This story sounds incredibly far fetched. But hey, what do I know? I've never worked in a library. I'm still trying to compute the link between smoking pipes and disarranged clothes. I didn't realize a puff of weed could magically disarrange clothes. Methinks EP is talking non-sense.
Mme. Chaucer Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Guys like him are banging hot women in their 20's because they have the looks or the money for it to happen; why would they make sexual advancements on you or on women like you/as old as you? Can a man with options be that drunk? Ouchee! Bitter guy seething with impotent anger really hurt my old lady feelings! Anyway, it was brotherly and kind of touching for you to jump on the OP's bandwagon of hilarity, but I really would like to hear what his explanation for "drinking twice" and "doomed" are. And LoveShack can do without your wildly whacky assertions about what women are like, what women are doing, thinking, whatever. We all know you hate our guts! But don't try to speak for any of us. Thanks!
Mme. Chaucer Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 This story sounds incredibly far fetched. But hey, what do I know? I've never worked in a library. Well, it happens very widely, and goes beyond nightclubs. You heard it here from an expert.
Kamille Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Yeah, I've no doubt it happens and I've had numerous close female friends who would tell me the stuff they've got up to (and bitch about their friends too) so I can imagine. But I believe there are some genuine, honest and decent women out there. I don't want to think they're all bad. In seriousness, what gets to me about this thread is this: Women aren't doing anything men aren't doing also. Men smoke on the job, men go on drinking binges. So why is the focus solely on women? Are men not also responsible for the moral well-being of society? Was the OP expecting women to live in some parallel universes, filled with rainbows and unicorns, where nothing but the purest most naive thoughts ever crossed our minds? There are men out there I wouldn't date. Which doesn't bar the fact that there are decent men out there. Yet you don't see me on here bemoaning the degeneration on masculine moors.
Woggle Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I used to be a bartender and I know getting that wasted is deliberate. On more than a few occasions I had to cut them off and they would get really nasty about it.
Kamille Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I used to be a bartender and I know getting that wasted is deliberate. On more than a few occasions I had to cut them off and they would get really nasty about it. Of course getting wasted is deliberate. But men do it also! So why the moral double-standard?
Woggle Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Of course getting wasted is deliberate. But men do it also! So why the moral double-standard? Because neither I or the OP date men. If you want to be turned off by drunk men you have every right to be.

I'm not sure if you're agreeing with my posts or implying I'm being sexist or judgemental? My posts have been fair and reasonable, I think. And the focus is on women because of the OP and the thread title. Why would we discuss men in a thread that is meant to address women?
Mme. Chaucer Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 All joking aside, Shaun-Dro is always trolling for a big reaction, and I think he's pretty smart about reliably crafting a thread to get just that. But, I'm still just as horrified by blatant sexism as I am by racism. I swear I don't live an insulated life ... why is it that none of the men I know, young or old, would be caught dead expressing any stuff like this?
Queen Zenobia Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Of course getting wasted is deliberate. But men do it also! So why the moral double-standard? Is the OP a teetotaler? Perhaps he aims to bring back the 18th Amendment?

Because the internet provides people a chance to say what they really think but are afraid to say in person. For all the focus on political correctness deep down people still feel what they feel.

The internet tends to be a place where unscrupulous characters gather in large quantities. The anonymity and the freedom to say what you want tends to attract the types that espouse things like this.

Mme. Chaucer Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 The internet tends to be a place where unscrupulous characters gather in large quantities. The anonymity and the freedom to say what you want tends to attract the types that espouse things like this. Yup. I do respect people who can honestly look at their own bias without the "skew" of political correctness ... but PC has its purpose, too. I can't see any positive purpose to all of this unbridled ignorance and hatred towards any group of our fellow human beings. I would think that people would want to hold themselves to a higher standard. Even the most blatant "political correct-ness" is better than blatant bigotry, isn't it?
Woggle Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Also, not everyone is a sexist or racist piggy. THANK GOD. True but with all the political correctness we have today our society is as polarized and hateful as ever. It has done nothing to make us a more tolerant society. I really think it would be better if people said what they felt then everything can be put on the table and dealt with.
Kamille Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I'm not sure if you're agreeing with my posts or implying I'm being sexist or judgemental? My posts have been fair and reasonable, I think. And the focus is on women because of the OP and the thread title. Why would we discuss men in a thread that is meant to address women? I cited your post because I was agreeing with the last part, but stumped as to why the focus was on women by male posters replying to the thread (not just you in particular). The OP obviously slanted the thread so that all his moralizing discourse would be focused on women, thereby letting men's drinking habits off the hook and men free to evaluate women's behavior. But I don't buy the argument that because he set it up as a thread on women's drinking, we should only be discussing women. That would only create an extremely slanted view of society. The OP obviously holds negative views of women, and deconstructing those requires putting them in perspective. Why does he feel women should be held responsible to higher moral standards than men?
Kamille Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Because neither I or the OP date men. If you want to be turned off by drunk men you have every right to be. That's a cop-out and you know it. You have asked consistently on this board for women to denounce women's poor behavior when they see it. (And I try to do it when I can). So why is it that when a topic allows you to sit comfortably in your propensity to judge women, you find excuses as to why you won't also consider men's habits?
Mme. Chaucer Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 True but with all the political correctness we have today our society is as polarized and hateful as ever. No, it's not. It has done nothing to make us a more tolerant society. Yes, it has. Just not in your corner of the Universe, evidently. I really think it would be better if people said what they felt then everything can be put on the table and dealt with. Really? So, you're fully in favor of hate speech? Calling Black people the "n word," using horrible euphemisms for gay people, just because that is what you "feel"? Or, does this only apply to men speaking about women, in your world view? Okay, I gotta go now. I have a run in my stocking and I better change it before I go outside to muck out the horse stalls.

When did I ever condone men getting wasted?
oaks Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 This is a phenomenon that I've discovered and it's on the rise. Women were drinking too much and doing stupid things 20+ years ago when I started going to bars and clubs. I wasn't so naive as to consider it a new discovery back then. (and men do it too, of course) Ever since then (and probably before), medical journals and popular press have reported an ever increasing tide of alcohol consumption issues, so well done for spotting the trend.
Ginger Beer Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I cited your post because I was agreeing with the last part, but stumped as to why the focus was on women by male posters replying to the thread (not just you in particular). We don't have to, but there's nothing wrong with discussing women in a thread about women. Re: your last sentence, that's a question only the OP can answer.
Mme. Chaucer Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 When did I ever condone men getting wasted? Woggle, your behavior on these fora is decidedly passive-aggressive. Please at least own that the OP was in NO WAY an opening to a conversation about how he personally reacts to seeing drunk women. makes you women look so much worse than you already do. should be enough for you right there.
Woggle Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Just look at our political discourse today. Look at the Tea Party and how polarized this country is politically. Look at people's voting patterns. It sure isn't too PC is it? I wish more misandrists would just come right out and say they hate men actually. Erasing hate speech in no way erases hate. Just because you have silenced somebody does not mean you have converted them. I have actually heard a few black friends say they respect the open white supremacists more than the Tea Party because at least the former comes right and says it.
