I have been having a casual relationship with a guy for about 6 months. We are great friends and there's lots of chemistry there so of course we ended up in the sack.

Anyway, he's been going through a lot of personal stuff this year (one of the reasons we never became committed) and has decided to travel for a few months then come back and start afresh. I love this guy so much. Although it hurts, I respect his need to leave and find himself. I don't even look at any other guys anymore and a part of me just wants to wait until he gets back.

Do you think things will change after he finishes travelling?? Part of me thinks that he will get this out of his system and come back and realise we were meant to be together. And then my brain says that if he ever loved me he wouldn't be leaving in the first place.

I don't want to be stuck in this limbo land forever, but I don't want to let go of him if there's a chance that he will come back for me. What do you think??

I'm sorry....but something SOMEWHAT similar happened to me. And what I found out is that I was completely kidding myself. All he wanted in the end was sex and I'm sorry...I just don't think that's good enough. Every woman deserves better than that! You can fantasize that he's going to come back and sweep you up in his arms and you two will live happily ever after, but I'm guessing that's all it'll be...a fantasy. Some guys are just pigs. :(

You had a casual relationship and you never "became committed". You put yourself in this limbo land & you are the only person to get yourself out.

And he is the only person who knows if things will be different when he returns from his travels. You're just going to have to wait & see I'm afraid. If he wants to start seeing you again when he does come back then insist on something that is not so casual.

Listen to what your brain is telling to you. :)

Don't wait. try to see other people, date, have fun.

If when he comes back his feelings will have changed, you'll still have the chance to have a relatioship with him. Of course if you will still be interested in him and won't have started a relationship with a nicer guy.

Act like he has left the country for ever.

Or at least act like it was certain nothing will be changed when he gets back.

Don't get stick with this guy, please.
