I'm writing a paper for a class and I want some opinions, please. :)

Out of all of these, what are the five most important?

Honesty

Integrity

Compassion

Love

Empathy

Respect

Faith

Knowledge

Wisdom

Freedom

Creativity

Dedication

Loyalty

Success

Cooperation

Enthusiasm

Self-Control

Leadership

Confidence

Skill

Sincerity

Reliability

Patience

Flexibility

Responsibility

Hope

Charity

or Prudence?

My top five are: Honesty, Love, Respect, Self-Control and Patience.

What do you think?

Of those, I pick:

Integrity

Compassion

Love

Dedication

Reliability

Coming up with my own descriptors, I'd say:

Passion

Honesty

Trust

Communication

Commitment

Respect

Just that one. Then the rest in random order.

Honesty

Loyalty

Respect

Love

Dedication

I would add Trust, too.

I also think that oaks is right, Respect is a huge indicator of many other important factors in a relationship. Trust, too, for that matter.

I had this discussion with many male and female friends that had serious disappointments in previous relationships.

Your list is extensive but IMHO misses many important issues:

1. Family of origin (FOO): Most rare exceptions men and women tend to replicate the culture of FOO. Others call this MEMES or inherited cultural traits. Pay a lot of attention to the family of your SO.

2. People that need external validation to be happy. Run away asa fast as you can. Look for people that are intrinsically happy.

3. Education.

4. Inferiority complex. Watch how the treat subordinates and waiters.

5. Lack of empathy is huge

I think you're forgetting about sexual compatibility, which to me is VERY important. But from the ones you listed I would say

Honesty

Sincerity

Confidence

Respect

Knowledge

(not in that order)

I'm writing a paper for a class about what I think the five most important are, and the values were listed for me. I would've said passion, trust, sexual compatibility and empathy, too.

I just wanted to know what others thought :)

Thank you for your replies.

It's a trick question because none of the answers are "Boobies".

In the long run it is all about integrity, honesty, FOO, education, and sexual compatibility. Prior history of cheating is an immediate disqualification.

And watch out for people who speak about themselves in the 3rd person. Big red flag for me...;)
