Feelsgoodman Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Right. That will become a positive word when the "N" word becomes positive for african-americans. Clearly, you are one of those white people who live in all white-neighborhood and only see black people on television or at the McDonald's drive through. Had you actually know a black person in real life, you would have also known that it's extremely common for them to greet each other with "wuzzup nigga!!" (and various thereof). This is usually accompanied with smiles and high-fives, now flying fists and angry shouts.
thatone Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Actually, if it weren't for the poor behavior of some men, women wouldn't feel the pressure to want or need to fend for themselves financially. What would you know about women outside of the Western World? Do you have any close friends who are Chinese or Indian? I do. The women from those countries (at least the higher castes) are ALL highly educated... Those from the lower and poorer castes either abort their daughters, marry them off, or sell them at the first opportunity. They would give their eye teeth to be able to keep and educate all of their children. It is NOT a 'feminist ideal' to want to be educated and self-sufficient. Outside of the 'western world', women don't have a choice. If YOU get to have a fulfilling career that stimulates you intellectually, providing you with numerous opportunities to interact with other adults and be recognized for something other than being a parent... why shouldn't women want the same thing? there's nothing wrong with feminist ideals. the idea that women should educate themselves and have the same opportunity as men in (particularly white collar) employment is fine. no one disagrees with that. but then we have, for example, suze orman, who is a common thief at worst, and a con artist at best, who has credibility to this day solely because she's a woman and was (mistakenly, like so many others) given an oprah stamp of approval. jim cramer is more accomplished than her in the same line of work and the same type of fame, but also, in many ways, a con artist. he turned investment advice into entertainment to sell his name, fame, and books, and when his advice turned out to be misguided he took massive heat for it. but the difference is no one went to bat for him, he had to face his own music when criticism came his way. no one dared criticize suze orman, because she's associated with oprah and oprah doesn't admit fault when she promotes false advice, she just ignores it. someone else posted that quote... imagine a man, take away reason and accountability that's really it in a nutshell. there's nothing wrong with equality. let us know when accountability is equal. as of now, it isn't.
Author Woggle Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 Was Suze Orman really ripping people off?
ThsAmericanLife Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Can I interest anyone in a piece of freshly baked blackberry pie? I just stepped out between threads and harvested the blackberries along the freeway, in my French maid outfit and platform mary-janes, of course. You stole my Halloween outfit!! Damn. Guess I'll have to go back to the 'Zena' or German Beer Frau costume this year. It's all about 'the wig'... Although, I won't need one for the beer frau. My blonde hair is down to my waist now. Are the blackberries still in season over there? Here in Upstate NY, I picked the last of mine about a month ago...
ThsAmericanLife Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 that's really it in a nutshell. there's nothing wrong with equality. let us know when accountability is equal. as of now, it isn't. Ha ha. This is funny. You dig up one threadbare example of a woman who (in your opinion) is not as talented or accountable, and use it to discredit the idea of equality?? I could spend a lifetime coming up with examples of men who took credit for women's accomplishments. Shoot, I could give you plenty of examples from my own life... but naah. Not worth it.
Feelsgoodman Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 there's nothing wrong with feminist ideals. the idea that women should educate themselves and have the same opportunity as men in (particularly white collar) employment is fine. no one disagrees with that. Feminism, much like communism and fascism before it, started out as a noble yet utterly unworkable idea. In order to put it into practice, it had to be corrupted, perverted and turned into a monster. Ultimately, the feminist movement is a social experiment gone terribly wrong...one that resulted in the destruction of traditional family values and is well on the way of bringing about the end of western civilization.
Hot Chick Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Suze Orman's awesome. I save $800 a month out of my paycheck because of her.
AHardDaysNight Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I like some types of feminism. The thing to remember about feminism is that there are different types. Look up the definition on wikipedia, and read read read! Take a woman's study class if you want. I consider myself a liberal feminist, but not a radical feminist. Radical feminists hate men. Anyway, I don't like the divide here. I know I'm not the most positive person, and I tend to be hated, but I definitely don't want women oppressed and controlled. If that is what a Stepford wife is, I don't want that. And yes, the N-word has become popular for blacks...between blacks. If a white person says it, no matter the meaning behind it...it still has the same racial connotation. That will NEVER change.

I live in an urban neighborhood now... against the 'advice' of my white friends who are afraid of black people. Heck, I was the only white girl at the wedding of my black friend. Spare me.

thatone Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 (edited) Was Suze Orman really ripping people off? she was successfully sued by her employees for unpaid commissions. she has also claimed to have investment advisory licenses that are suspended or lapsed. like most other "financial advisers" she didn't advise people to do anything but buy life insurance. she never got past the cold-calling life policy salesman gig until she hooked up with oprah. and she expanded by hiring other people to peddle life insurance....and then 'forget' to pay them their commissions. http://www.forbes.com/forbes/1998/1228/6214118a.html note the date, that was over 10 years ago. how many times has she been on oprah since? how many TV shows has she done under her own name since? why was she not laughed out of the public eye when she was revealed to be a fraud? accountability? none here!
