momto3boys Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I have messed up the NC rule and have been texting my soon to be ex-husband. Everytime i talk to him i end up saying mean things to him. I am ready to start the NC rule and move on with my life. how does the NC rule work when kids are involved?? Should i keep visitation with the children limited to texts/emails? Should i not initiate contact, let him contact me when he wants to see our son?
Jdw_Icequeen Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 For now if he wants to come see his son and provided he is a good father and role model. You shouldn't keep your son away from him. Its not fair to your son. Which is the most important thing. So if he wants to see him you have limited conversations ONLY about your son. Set up a time when he can come see him and then he can come pick him up, meet him at the door drop your son to him and whatever he will need for the trip and again meet him at the door when he drops him off.. It makes things alot more difficult when kids are involved. Through my divorce I had to cut off all contact for a while because my ex huband only called to harrass me and not talk to our children or about them. His sole intent was to hurt me and make me feel bad. After I started the divorce proceedings is when he changed his tune. He started paying child support and calling to talk to them and playing the part of the father he should have been from the beginning. Its been 3 years now and we are able to talk friendly to eachother, even though he gets under my skin sometimes the main thing is that he is an active father in our kids lives. My recent ex and I also have a son together. He turned to be a bad apple though. I found out alot of horrible things about him so in the end it was better for my son to be without him. Its very sad. It depends on your situation if you have to hold off for a while. If your to upset to even see his face then arrange for someone else to drop your son off to his father or a place where he can pick him up if possible.
