Ayis Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 [sIZE=3][FONT=Calibri]I am a brain tumor survivor and internet dating has helped me in the past, I met my two ex-girlfriends online and had relationships lasting three years each but that was history….or so I thought![/FONT][/sIZE] [sIZE=3][FONT=Calibri]One of my ex’s after we broke up; had created a dating web site for Latin singles and since I had maintained a good friendship with her, she had made me a member on her web site. Although I was intrigued I was not too serious about seeking a new relationship, but that would all change. On that day I had left my computer on, but was busy playing video games on a console system I had! A girl started to contact me but I did not pay much attention to it… after all my game was probably more important! She kept messaging me and finally caught my attention and spiked my curiosity when she stated “if you do not want to talk to me it’s okay, just tell me!”. I quit my game and went to chat with Elvidania, but instead of English I was writing to her in my broken Spanish….but that was not the only barrier! Indeed distance also came into play as she was living in Madrid, Spain and I was in New York, but the more we talked the more I liked her! She was a pretty girl and had a beautiful smile on her pictures but I was really impressed about her life story and how she arrived to Madrid from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. She grew up in utter poverty and managed against all odds to go to school in her small village, finish first of her class and receive a full scholarship to a university in the capital. Next she studied computer engineering and again finished first of her class, receiving a full scholarship that was given by the president of her country. Elvidania could study in many universities but chose Madrid because of her ex-boyfriend. We chatted from then every day for a month…we would speak for hours always having something to talk about! I started to realize that she was a special girl and that I had to follow my heart and find a way to see her. I would risk the possible rejection and danger of travelling to an unknown destination just to know if she could have been the one….if I did not I might have had regrets for the rest of my life.[/FONT][/sIZE] [sIZE=3][FONT=Calibri]I gathered the money… she was a little surprised I had decided to come and visit but I did not make anything of it! I planned to go for her birthday and hoped she would be as excited as I was! I was happy about my trip and scrambled to buy new shoes, pants and shirts to impress! When I arrived it was the morning and she was at work, I was feeling tired but the adrenaline and excitement kept me up until she knocked on my hostel room door. She was even prettier live than she was on pictures and webcam, I gave her a perfume that she had told me she liked and we went off to our first physical date! We went to Burger King and the next conversation surprised me a little! She told me that she did not want to get into another relationship as she was still getting over her last one. Okay, I knew there was a risk of that happening, I had done my part, had followed my heart and at least I was happy to have a possible friendship out of my trip so I enjoyed the rest of my three days. I had lots of fun meeting her friends, visiting the city and savoring the food there… and all of a sudden on the last night she held my hand! We danced that night and in the morning she was crying at the airport when I had to leave.[/FONT][/sIZE] [sIZE=3][FONT=Calibri]After that romantic evening months passed without movement, we were still talking but the intensity in our conversations had somewhat faded… frankly I did not think there was much of a future and we were going to remain chatting on a friendly stance. I was wrong about six months after my initial trip she came to visit with some of her friends for a week! She stayed in my house with me and we enjoyed a very pleasant and romantic week visiting New York City and going to restaurants. I visited her in Madrid thereafter and a month after moved with her. I got a job and after more than a year living together I proposed! [/FONT][/sIZE]
