oaks Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Bizarre online dating experience of the day: I saw the profile of an attractive woman. 5ft11, non-religious, no children, and everything else also acceptable. So I write a couple of paragraphs. She responds with a short sentence which was a reply to one of my questions but nothing more. From past experience this sounds like she's not interested - no name, no attempt at a 'conversation', nothing other than factually answering something I asked. Fair enough. So I look at her profile again to remind myself why I contacted her in the first place. Now she's 5ft5, got religion, and kid(s). None of the new details are dealbreakers for me, but I can't decide whether to congratulate her on getting a family and finding a faith or offer sympathy on her loss of stature. (Actually, I think I shall ignore her for being uninterested and strange; I have other less confusing conversations already going on.)

What site is this that allows them to change their profile on the fly. She's doesn't know what she wants.. Odd she lied about her kid, like she was hiding that fact.
Stung Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I just watched that movie last week on Netflix! I was looking for something live-action that the 2 year old, the 12 year old, and my H and I could all watch on a lazy rainy afternoon. Down, down, down went poor Lily Tomlin. I didn't get to see the end though because once she got small enough to be threatened by the household pets, it got scary for the toddler. In the interest of full disclosure, I recently discovered I have actually lost half an inch in height over the past decade, after a rough pregnancy and some back problems. It was an unpleasant shock but a very effective goad into enrolling in Yoga. In the case of your shrinking woman's profile, my guess is that it's a fake set up by one of many dating site trolls looking for a few laughs and trying on different personas.
phineas Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I met a woman from online a while back who listed her longest relationship as 10yrs. Never married, no kids & 38. I asked her about it & she said he was in the military, she was engaged & he cheated on her. It ended yrs ago but i'm pretty sure it messed her up to a degree because she's almost 40 & the dude pretty much destroyed her plans for a family. I'm divorced at almost 40 shelling out child support. I won't have any more kids. I don't need a 3rd payment. Shortly after, she gave me the "friends" line & her profile was changed to 4yrs as her longest relationship. I just thought that was odd.
Author oaks Posted September 12, 2011 Author Posted September 12, 2011 What site is this that allows them to change their profile on the fly. Umm. All of them? All the ones I've used, anyway.
OnyxSnowfall Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Eh, the internet is not infallible....... they may not even be female And or you've made a mistake and are confusing two different people.

(Actually, I think I shall ignore her for being uninterested and strange; I have other less confusing conversations already going on.) Since when did being a woman of less 'stature' elicit 'sympathy'? If I was you I'd congratulate her on all three 'achievements'! If only to see how she wriggles herself out of it. If you can be bothered that is. I suspect you'll be wasting your time though.
FitChick Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 That's why I print out or save to my desktop the profiles of the men I'm interested in. Easier to spot any odd changes.
Author oaks Posted September 12, 2011 Author Posted September 12, 2011 And or you've made a mistake and are confusing two different people. I'm terrible at closing tabs in my browser and in this case I found one from earlier in the day with the previous version of her profile in it. That's why I print out or save to my desktop the profiles of the men I'm interested in. Easier to spot any odd changes. Hmm. That's an idea. I probably wouldn't waste printer ink on it, but disk space is cheap.
Stung Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Since when did being a woman of less 'stature' elicit 'sympathy'? Um, since always? Sorry to hear about your shortness, shorty. I kid, I kid.
Imageiko Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Actually, I think I shall ignore her for being uninterested and strange; I have other less confusing conversations already going on.) Very good idea I'd say.
