My boyfriend of 3+ years and I live some distance apart. Recently he told me he was unable to visit me, which I accepted. Later I found out he'd visited the city I live near. I asked him about it and he refuses to tell me ANYTHING about it. He is now not talking to me because I asked him about it. I'm really quite upset about this because I feel something fishy is going on, i just don't understand why he refuses to say a single thing about it. I don't think I'm overreacting, am I?

Any advice greatly appreciated :(

Could be something "fishy" or something else. Doesn't really matter though, does it? The fact that he doesn't "trust" your relationship enough to be honest and forthcoming says something's not right between you.

You can choose to let this one slide, but if I were you I'd be mindful from now on.

If you ever want to know who a person really is or what's really most important to them, don't pay attention to what they say, pay attention to how they act and treat you, and that will tell you where their heart really lies...

Best,

Short of keeping it a secret because he was purchasing an engagement ring for you, I'd quit with him.

You are most certainly not overreacting. How terribly hurtful! :(

Everyone will tell you that long distance relationships require patience. You can't resolve problems as you can in local relationships, where you can meet up and discuss things. In fact, efforts to solve such problems at a distance can cause more harm than good. Because of that, I'd say take extra effort to plan meeting in person and resolve it there, rather than using voice/video/email/txt to resolve this.

How did you find out he visited a nearby town?

When he has to cover it up the way he is, there is something fishy going on. Prepare to watch him getting more distant, he will start seeing someone else.
