Women who say they are average or athletic build and say they like a lot of outdoor activities but their pic shows them as being extremely obese!

Women whose profile is a list of "don't be" yet they are on a dating site expecting to find the "perfect" man. And they are fat!

The typical lame profiles that everyone has that you know are not entirely true but you also know they have no creativity or no personality. "I love a night on the town dinner and dancing but also staying in for pizza and a movie"

Yeah, its like they are using it as a description of their activity/life style...you can do a lot of out doors and sporty things, but that doesnt make you have an athletic body...just look at an offensive linemen in the NFL...every other choice describes BODY type, not lifestyle type; thin, average, overweight, curvy, bbw, a few extra pounds....those are body types...not lifestyle...no reason athletic is any different.

1. If a man doesn't smile in his photos, and has blurry mobile phone/webcam photos.

2. Using text speak. Not fussed about perfect grammar or spelling, but at least make an effort.

3. Messages that say "hi".

I also hate that option of "a few extra pounds". What is a few extra pounds. It could be a deal breaker for me, because I wouldn't date a guy who was seriously overweight, but I don't care about a few extra pounds.

I'm surprised no one considers a major age difference a deal breaker.

What about people with attributes/activities that are opposite of what you listed as you want/don't want in your profile? They didn't read the profile!

Also, people that are from the other end of the world contacting you.

A guy 10 years younger .. WTF? They haven't even graduated yet ... and I'm not old enough to be a sugar mommy

I do. It is one of many reasons I stopped posting photos before I stopped OLD altogether.

Had a 19 yr old emailing me... and 60 somethings checking me out too. I find both creepy. I'm old enough to be the first one's mom... and the second one's daughter. Ick.

If they have pics: The shirtless thing always annoyed me. Doesn't matter how great they look. Also, the 'serious' or trying to look sexy and smoldering look... two more turn offs.

If they don't have pics, they need to fill in their profiles and (on OkC) at least 200-300 questions to determine basic compatibility.

Anything that suggests they have control or dominance issues... or strongly religious. Lived in the Deep South. I know what that is all about.

The 'young at heart' line... really? care to post your EKG results? How about blood pressure stats.

Or, this really cracks me up... They say they are looking for a woman who can dress up for a night on the town or look great in jeans. I've seen this sooooo many times. Not quite sure what they are trying to get at there...

A brood of something. Whether it be kids, pets, ceramic doll collection...

Also the "musts". Like "must love reading" or "must love hiking". Yeah I think similar interests are nice to have, but don't count on meeting someone who shares ALL of your interests. That would probably be impossible.

It means he wants her to be sexy enough to dress up and turn heads but also look great when he takes her to burger king :p

:) I think it is the connection with clothing that I found wierd.. and this thought that I'm kind of a Barbie doll... ooo! It's "Party Barbie"... and then there is 'Fishing Barbie' or whatever.

Why doesn't the guy just say "I enjoy the occasional black-tie event as well as... (fill in with other casual interests)".

It seems one or two dates would be sufficient to see if the lady is too high or too low maintenance for him anyway.

You realize Barbies always end up naked and headless right? Just sayin. I guess thats where CSI Ken comes in :o

I can't say that there isn't any validity to what you've typed in the above quote.

But to add my two cents here, I have one picture up on my online dating profile of me and another woman (a lover at the time) together at the beach. We're both cheek to cheek for the picture. Is this a picture of the sort that you are speaking of? I ask because I seek to increase my already growing success with online dating and I do plan on experimenting with what you've touched on here. I've taken the picture down and I will compare success prior to and after. And touch back here on this thread with the results.

Yes, that's what I speak of.

When a guy posts a pic of himself with another woman, what he is essentially saying is that he's :

1. Insecure

2. Thinks surrrounding himself with pics of another pretty girl will make him more attractive because he feels the need to scream "look- I have a pretty girl interested in me"... Creating competetion.

3. He doesn't feel he can attract a girl on his own, so he has to post pics of himself with other women to show chicks that he can actually land a pretty girl.

A bigger turn off? No- I think that's the biggest one. It's worse than a shirtless pic.

But putting up a pic with yourself and your ex? The worst offence ever on record.... No self respective woman wants to see that- and she will delete you're message.

Put pics of yourself only- even if you have to crop a pic.

Guy, you're on a DATING site- posting pics of other women should be a no brainer- never, ever do it.

:) too funny!! This reminds me of when I was growing up.

My parents gave me all the traditional girl toys.. Barbies, etc.

I'd pull the arms off to see how they worked. Push them back on... pull them back off. (It's a ball joint, for those gear-heads out there). Poke stuff in the ears of the dolls that had eyes that opened and closed (worked using rubber bands).

Gosh i hope they didn't give you any pets :p

I agree.

Guys... women want to imagine THEMSELVES with you... It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that pics of you lounging with lady du jour isn't going to warm their hearts. Neither is your grim mug staring into the webcam lens. Smile already!!!

My favorite pictures are ones where the guy is proving he does some of the activities he says he does... and they are recent...

awww MAN! You had to bring THAT up!

I did accidentally kill my cousin's hamster when I was 5. I'll never forget it. Even worse... I tried to make it look like it was just sleeping. Not one of my finer moments.

  • Illiterate/use of Text messaging language
  • Smoker
  • Has more than 3 kids
  • Says "someone who accepts me for who I am" This either means they're obese or have way too many personal issues.
  • Really fat. Sorry, but I just can't be attractive to really overweight women. I just can't.
  • Those who whinge and whine in their profile about the guys that message them. They'll be nagging bitches and who wan'ts one of them? I certainly don't want someone who's like my mother!
  • Those who have too many specific requirements - ie, ones that narrow things down to about 2% of the male population (even if I am in that 2%). There's no way you'll ever be able to keep that woman happy. Too high maintenance.

when messaging:

  • Illiterate/use of Text messaging language
  • One line replies all the time - with no follow up questions of their own. I just can't be bothered going to all that work when there are plenty of other women I can meet up with.

I'd never think to post a pic of myself with an ex, or some random dude(s) at some bar.

I remember once some dude sent me a message... I viewed his profile. His 4 pics consisted of his one profile pic (just him)... His second- himself surrounded by 6 blonde women in bikini's on a boat) (caption saying "my boat:..). The third at some car show wih himself and 2 girls with cut off shirts, his second a pic of himself at a bar surrounded by girls half his age...and the last- a pic of him arm and arm cheeks pressed together with yet another girl.

I messaged him back and gave him my input about how pics like that weren't the way to go about attracting the "good women"... Boy did I get the nastiest message back saying I was the biggest bitch, and obvioulsy I was insecure.

Geeze, what a dick!

I agree those sort of pics are just stupid to put on a dating website. I have to admit, when I see a pic of a woman on one of those site's and even if she has a male arm draped around her, it makes me wonder why she'd put that particular one up.

I just received a message from a guy in a foreign country. WTF is going on? Why do they want to write to someone from so far away?

I'm beyond mad.
