*lol* Really...

Let me paint a picture for you.

A woman, a mother of 5 kids, wife of 13 yrs. College degree, going back to school for a second degree. Business owner inside the home, casual waitress outside the home. Animal activist, autism activist and highly educated.

...

... Pretty nice picture huh?

6 tattoos, none of which you will ever see or know about if I don't tell you or show you them. 6 piercings (2 in each ear, one nose, one tongue - again most people don't notice it at all either).

My body modifications are extremely special to me, they tell pieces of my life story in a visual, living and breathing art form. Mine are tactfully placed as to not interfere with my job or home business (ie: clients). You can't even see my tongue ring because I had it placed about a half inch further back and at an angle. Most people are surprised when they find out I have one. The rest of my piercings are tasteful, small stoned piercings that you don't notice unless I point it out.

While I respect people for their opinions, don't tell me what I can and cannot do or should and should not do. You don't like it? Don't look.

Tongue rings are also gross and immature. It reeks of amateur cries for attention where you'd otherwise not get any.

Yeah, tongue rings with young people are typical, but seeing it on someone 30+. Dunno about that.

I have a friend who is 32 and has one and has had one for the last 16 years, you can't even tell it is there unless she sticks out her tounge and baisically say "ahh". Actually all the guys she has been with have said that it is something extra that makes kissing and such exciting.

Tongue rings (and tattoos, and naval rings, etc) were already "cool" when I went off to college in the early 90s. Lots of people my age have had them and removed them by now :p (<--that's me, ring free! lol)

How exactly does a tattoo showcharacter in a man but confusion and no self-respect for a woman?

Men generally assume that a woman with tattoos has low impulse control. It may or may not be true, but that is the general assumption. Maybe some guys think that tattoos are attractive, but a lot of men find them repulsive.

Women who get tattoos are practically ensuring that a certain segment of the male population will never take them seriously. So the women who get tattoos are either unaware of how unattractive a lot of men find them, or the women just don't care because they assume that they will be able to find a guy who does like tattoos.

There USED to be a time where tats on a women were small and obscure, like a small, feminine cute cartoon character on their ankle or on small one on their shoulder blades.

I've been to a water park lately, seen these pretty women in bikinis PLASTERED in black and tacky tats that span the ENTIRE length of their torso

The ugly black angel wings that cover the entire back, or the a vine that spans the length from their armpit to hip.

Quite disgusting, they're getting tats that looks like something men get in a correctional facility. lol

I agree, it is really disturbing because besides looking hideous revolting and scummy, it reflects a total lack of impulse control. Worse yet this is a reflection of the consumerism mentalitiy spreading across the USA and the endless need for more, more, more to appease the bottomless pit of want and need to stroke the ego and prop up self image via decoration of the body. No differnt than big bulky gold chains or walking down the street with your two pit bulls to show off your worth to your neighbors via decorative vehicles of shock value. The intrinsic need for the attention of complete strangers is also deeply disturbing. But most of all, those damn tattoos are just ugly and immature. Hang it on a wall at home, not etched into your otherwise naturally beautiful skin.

And they are correct. Or, at least a guy that accepts them.

We have heard multiple men complain that too many women have tattoos. Have you ever heard of a woman complaining that she can not find a man because of her tattoos? I haven't.

I bet that there are women who cannot get the type of man they want because of their tattoos. However, those women probably rationalize the rejection as being for some reason other than the tattoos.

It's a generational thing. Take advantage of the situation and start buying stock in laser companies because all of those people will want the tattoos removed in a few years. That trend has already started amongst the "cooler" people who started this fad years ago. Once the masses imitate them, they are on to the next fad -
?

You are not far off. Some of the folks in the tattoo crowd are already inserting smaller discs in the ear lobes. And yes, they are starting to look like the folks in those African tribes.

Perhaps, the whole tattoo culture is a return to more primitive times.

Or a mere reflection on the emptiness of meme culture...

Consider the source.

Man good. Woman bad. Me want meat. MAKE DINNAR NOW.

Every man has their preferences...appreciate differences in people and just be happy you can choose to date a woman without tattoos if you want. Also, men who are into tattoos on women can choose to date a woman with tattoos. Isn't that great?

These images on the body I don't like myself like they carry the name of the ex on their upper and lower back. I use to know a girl in school who use to carve her BF name with some sort of sharp object. She told me she love him. She was a nice girl tough one she won't let anyone tell her what to do, but she was just plain nice with me. But other than that names and branding oneself objects might look cool or sexy, but it's a turn off for me too.

Yeppers, I saw this one profile where a woman displays her 5 or 6 tats fully, and then says, "I plan on getting more."

I think they use it as a weeding out process for those that do find such tats revolting.

IT's kind of a shame, seeing a beautiful woman in a bikini at the beach, and you're distracted by all that.

That's like putting a bunch of bumper stickers on a Mercedes. LOL

Or how about a wife that gets a tat without consulting her husband and he comes home and about has a fit. lol

I keep reading comments here suggesting that people with tattoos have some kind of emotional disturbance. I think it's more disturbed for anybody to have such an issue about what another person chooses to do to their body. I don't have a tattoo, so I'm not saying that in a defensive way...and I can understand people saying "it's not to my personal taste. "

One or two people seem really personally involved and passionate in their opposiion complete strangers deciding to get a tattoo, though. That suggests control issues to me. Try Fibergel. There are plenty of people out there with tattoos who are functioning just fine. Maybe even better than you.

If done well they can look really good but I suggest anybody getting one seek out a good artist and don't do it on a whim.

I'm positive that I'm not alone on this but body art is great on men simply because it shows character, edge, masculinity. When I see it on women it emphasizes a rejection of femininity, shows confusion, and lack of quality, with a promotion of tawdriness. Gone are those days where women looked like a woman= sexy, classy, completely clear skin, and self-respect.

Now I do realize that that this is not all women as a whole, but nowadays, they definitely make up the majority of the American female. And the thing about it is that when they reach middle age, these body inks are going to look disgusting on them. You ladies cannot get away with this the way a man can. Please understand that!

I have 10 tattoo's, all relatively small and discreet. I like to consider myself to be very feminine and sexy, I like to dress in nice clothes and my hair and make-up are (almost) always immaculate and like very girlie things and do not think of myself as masculine in any way. I have a great deal of self respect, I am well educated (training to be a psychologist) and love the way I look and the tattoo's merely represent a part of my personality.

Please realize that these are likely angry men because they don't get dates so they look for any reason to put down a woman. These classy women they speak of probably do have tattoos but they will never know it because they will likely never get them out of their clothes.

You "lol"ed your own post despite it not being the least bit funny. Maybe you need a joker tat ;)

Too true! To be honest, I like myself so I don't really care if anyone else does or not, its just a shame that prejudice of any kind exists but such is life!

Right! If you read this thread it is like some good 'ole boys slapping each other on the back for beating women down for expressing themselves. I bet they are just upset because tats don't look good on man boobs and beer bellies

Lol, you're probably right. Well I'm planning my next two, wonder what they'll think of that?
