Shaun-Dro
I'm positive that I'm not alone on this but body art is great on men simply because it shows character, edge, masculinity. When I see it on women it emphasizes a rejection of femininity, shows confusion, and lack of quality, with a promotion of tawdriness. Gone are those days where women looked like a woman= sexy, classy, completely clear skin, and self-respect. Now I do realize that that this is not all women as a whole, but nowadays, they definitely make up the majority of the American female. And the thing about it is that when they reach middle age, these body inks are going to look disgusting on them. You ladies cannot get away with this the way a man can. Please understand that! I don't have any other piercings besides my ears and only one in each nor any tattoos because needles make me vomit they are so scary. I do get why lots of people hate tattoos on women, I think like one small one is ok. My one friend has one on the inside arch of her left foot in tiny cursive that says "Live to dance" obviously she is a dancer. She also has her belly button pierced, that one I was there for cause I drove her there. Before I was terrified of needles I was going to get my belly done but since I am always falling and am wearing tighter shirts when riding I didn't want to risk snagging it and pulling it out so I never got it done. If I was to get a tattoo it would have been behind my ear or base of my neck and it would be a music note or "hold hands not grudges". I think that obvious tattoos though are a little overbearing. I know women who won't wear shoes for more than three months but they have permenently put a flower on their body? If I go on a vacation I will get henna or a fake one but those are kinda fun cause I can switch those up.
Mutant Debutante
How exactly does a tattoo showcharacter in a man but confusion and no self-respect for a woman?

misssmartypants
I guess you have a right to your opinion, but I don't see how you have the right to tell women as a whole what they can and cannot do or get away with. Besides, its seems like you are stirring the pot with this because there was a huge thread about tattoos a while back.
irc333
There USED to be a time where tats on a women were small and obscure, like a small, feminine cute cartoon character on their ankle or on small one on their shoulder blades. I've been to a water park lately, seen these pretty women in bikinis PLASTERED in black and tacky tats that span the ENTIRE length of their torso The ugly black angel wings that cover the entire back, or the a vine that spans the length from their armpit to hip. Quite disgusting, they're getting tats that looks like something men get in a correctional facility. lol
sm1tten
Well congratulations resurrecting a thread topic that had finally falled off the first few pages, I can think of literal handful here who agree with you and a ton of other people who don't give a ****, defy your "logic," and wonder why you bother wasting your time caring about women who might or might not want to date someone like you anyway. Feelin Frisky
It looks like shi+ on everyone. Like tattoos? Tour a prison. I vehemently object to the assertion that it "shows character, edge, masculinity" on a man. It certainly does not. It shows insecurity, a belief that bravado can be bought and inked on instead of earned through manly acts, and last but not least, it reflects narcissism in its most pure form--the belief that he matters simply by existing and that each act of body modification registers on someone else's perception. It doesn't, and he doesn't matter until he does something worthy of reverence. It's a prison of the mind worn on the body. And the contents of real prisons back up that observation by being full of rejects who have gotten life utterly wrong. A woman subtracts a huge chunk of her appearance with every bit of ink. It's truly disgusting IMO.
shayla
I have 4 tattoos, all of them mean something very important to me. Every time I look at them, I feel a sense of deep pride. As long as I love them, I cannot control how others judge them. And thankfully, opinions do vary.
Disillusioned_Wife
*lol* Really... Let me paint a picture for you. A woman, a mother of 5 kids, wife of 13 yrs. College degree, going back to school for a second degree. Business owner inside the home, casual waitress outside the home. Animal activist, autism activist and highly educated. ... ... Pretty nice picture huh? 6 tattoos, none of which you will ever see or know about if I don't tell you or show you them. 6 piercings (2 in each ear, one nose, one tongue - again most people don't notice it at all either). My body modifications are extremely special to me, they tell pieces of my life story in a visual, living and breathing art form. Mine are tactfully placed as to not interfere with my job or home business (ie: clients). You can't even see my tongue ring because I had it placed about a half inch further back and at an angle. Most people are surprised when they find out I have one. The rest of my piercings are tasteful, small stoned piercings that you don't notice unless I point it out. While I respect people for their opinions, don't tell me what I can and cannot do or should and should not do. You don't like it? Don't look.

It's truly disgusting IMO. I beg to differ, for either gender. While some people treat the art of tattooing in that manner I do not. Mine you will never see or know about unless I tell you or show you them. My ink is no one's business but my own. I didn't do it for other people and their "perception". I do my inking as a form of memorializing parts of my life like my children (birth), my relationship, my religion (for lack of a better word) and myself. You and other people are the last person on my mind while I get ink done.
Zaphod B
I used to hate tattoos on a woman and in general I don't find them to be attractive or sexy or even feminine, but there are some that I actually do find sexy and feminine. I think a small ankle tattoo can be sexy on a woman. My ex girlfriend also had a tattoo that circled her upper arm - a kind of barbed wire type of tatt. I loved it. I'm even ok with the ones some women have along their lower back above their butt, even though they are quite large.
Star Gazer
I do not like tramp stamps of any sort, but that's just me. You're not alone. Most men I know don't. I still have virgin skin. It's highly unlikely that I'll ever get a tattoo.

Zaphod B
Ahhh yes, I forgot about that one. For sure specially if it loks like sha is wearing a bracelet on her ankle....love that/ yeah ankle bracelets! I think those are hot too. I'm even a big fan of nose studs (not nose rings!) I just think those are the hottest things ever.
Star Gazer
So getting a tatto on a woman is a tramp stamp? So stupid....errr I know some good girls who have tats....not tramps. NO. A tramp stamp is a tattoo on a specific part of the body: the lower back.

I couldn't do it cause I am a baby when it comes to needles!! I did want to get a tat, how bad does the tounge hurt?? I know someone who got it and said they couldn't eat solid foods for awhile. I'm assuming your piercing is further back so you don't chip your teeth right?? Can I ask you what each tattoo is?? If you don't want to share feel free, but I always like hearing what others peoples are. Oh and which location hurt the least??
Eclypse
I dislike tattoos greatly on both sexes. Just think it looks vile. If I took off the shirt of a girl I was dating and saw she had one that would be an instant dumping. I'm usually willing to accept just about anything but tattoos and piercings are major dealbreakers. It's just the way I am. I'm sorry but physical attraction is important to me and that's not possible with tattoos in my opinion.
FitChick
It's a generational thing. Take advantage of the situation and start buying stock in laser companies because all of those people will want the tattoos removed in a few years. That trend has already started amongst the "cooler" people who started this fad years ago. Once the masses imitate them, they are on to the next fad - ?
Star Gazer
Why is that a tramp stamp? I love those and I mentioned that above. I love it when girls are jogging on the multi use biking/walking path here and I can see a "peek" of their tats on their backs as their shirt pulls up a bit....love it... There's an entire thread dedicated to tramp stamps. It has to do with the type of young woman who gets a tattoo in that particular location.

todd
I can see tats that represent something important to an individual though I do not find it attractive on a woman. Someone who has tribal art on his body just because he thinks it is cool actually comes off as a douche in my eyes. He should just buy a crotch rocket and walk around with his shirt off everywhere talking about that awesome keg party he went to last night, even though he is well into his 30s now.
