After reading many posts written by guys that all the top guys have the super looking chicks. It is extremely silly. Many if not the majority of top men are not out running around and marrying 20 year old women and bashing women in an all out fashion or viewing life and women as a Blow up doll.

A great example is Bill Gates, one of the richest and intelligent men out there, (maybe intelligence is the *key here). He has it all, and he married a woman who while may be a charming and beautiful woman to many, but if to be put on a scale of 1-10, would fall significantly low on that scale. He could have married anyone he wanted, but he did not go for a blow up doll. I also know many men personally who have lost wives to illness and so on, who were extremely prominent, who by gosh!, remarried women in their own age group when they could have dated many golddigger to just get off.

I would really like to hear and am interested on thoughts of what makes this difference in mentality among men???????

Oh you didn't get the memo, professor? I sent it via the MAN brain we all share!

OP, how about 'top men can have super (universally attractive) chicks if they want them'?

It is extremely silly.

Yep, people post all sorts of silly things on the internet.

I am no where near the "top men" just an average dude earning a buck and i have a super gorgeous woman that makes much more than I do and could have any guy she wants but she just wants me...wait what was this topic about? Double standards?

This thread was posted regarding the mentality of, "the men," (not all posts are about you, it is about others, not alllllll about you:laugh:), who view life as a large blow up doll, and do not take in account any other aspect or view when regarding women. Is it maturity? Intelligence?

Top women can pick any universally attractive man if they want.

Further, if software could scan and eliminate silliness, LS would be a banal scientific survey referral site ;)

That is the point! You KNOW top women were dying to get their hands on Mr. Bill Gates, but they could not get "any" man they wanted, because he did not marry one of them, so that crushes your theory!

Yet you believe Bill Gates can have any woman he wants? Tell me the difference

Prince William married Kate, while attractive, very far from being a super model or vixen like Paris Hilton. He did not waiver that way and thought with his big head!

Okay look at Hugh Hefner....gag! Bill Gates has what a billion dollars, super intelligence, and not bad looking either. You do not think he could have dated every Sports Illustrated swim suit model or Victoria Secret's model...come on now! How many top of the top women could he have dated....many, just like Donald Trump, who married one of the most sought after women in his league and not one who well is average in looks as he, but smart in business. But, he, Bill Gates, did not go that route and married an extremely average looking woman. It just shows maturity, a healthy self esteem, that he did not have to have a swim suit model linked on his arm to be the man!!! Lol.

Well it's silly in the "blowup doll" language for example. What if a guy posted asking about the mentality of "the women who view men as human wallets?" Would you expect many useful responses?

Do you actually think that men who view women as blowup dolls spend their time posting on internet dating forums?

If a man really did view women as no better than blowup dolls, why wouldn't he just go out and get a blowup doll? They are much less expensive, don't babble on incessantly about inane things, and only take up a corner of the closet instead of the whole thing.

I said view women as a blow up doll, not want a blow up doll! Geesh:rolleyes:

Maybe because Bill Gates was in love with her. Maybe even before he became rich... i dont know their story. I don't know where this stereotype of men wanting supermodels (or paris hilton...icky!) comes from but we really arent that shallow.

I wouldn't regard Bill Gates (sorry Bill!) as a universally attractive man. Sir Richard Branson, closer perhaps. It's about what the 'top' person wants as much as what is available.

An example of the female side might be Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy marrying Aristotle Onassis after her husband John and, later, his brother Robert were assassinated. She could have chosen any number of men but her fear for her life and that of her children led her to Greece and security with a wealthy and powerful man, though not someone most people would consider universally attractive or her 'equal'. Her universal attractiveness gave her that freedom. Sure, other top men might have 'wanted' her and she was single for a few years after becoming a widow but who knows if she was 'available'.

Another way to look at it is from the standpoint of potentials. A top woman can choose amongst a wider cadre of top men than we underlings can. If Bill wasn't available, then maybe Steve (Balmer) or Paul (Allen) or Larry (Ellison) or Steve (Jobs) , etc, etc. There is freedom for each potential to fruit. Would I have the same standing as an average man with that top woman, even if I were 'good looking'? What do you think?

In the OP, Bill chose to marry his wife Melinda from all the opportunities which his appearance, personality, wealth and celebrity afforded him. He didn't marry some 20 year old who worked for him. The difference is he *could* have and the 20 year olds with stars in their eyes for Bill could have passed over good men in their zeal to become fodder for his attentions. IMO, that's how universally attractive and/or powerful people affect the relationship marketplace, by removing potentials from the market like metal being attracted to a magnet. The same with married powerful men and women who keep a roster of lovers.

Such is life.

Bill Gates is only a "top man" in sense that he's very rich. He is not exactly known for his good looks or charming personality. Plus, like all computer nerds, he is likely awkward around women. And although he could mary a hot woman if he wanted to, such a woman would only be marrying him for the money, which I'm sure Bill Gates realizes (and there's no need to go into why marrying a gold digger would be a very bad idea for an American billionaire).

When people talk about top guys, they mean guys who have it all: looks, personality and a great career (though it's not necessary to be a millionaire/billionaire).

But that is exactly what I am getting to, after reading so many posts that can seem super superficial regarding women and expectations, women still have a chance for men, regardless of the misconceptions that are written here. There are many good men out there, however, they are most likely not on a dating websites. I would rather have a man date me for more than my looks.

I have read posts in which men were writing, if I was just a top man, I could get whomever I wish. But the truth is is most top men are, "smarter," then that mentality and do not just think with their little head when it comes to relationships.

Yes, exactly, although I have heard he is charming in personality. Some top men just marry women for a trophy, and have an empty relationship, while more look for qualities that exceed just hot. Much more mature and sexy than the PUA mentality.

Just a quick note: to a lot of guy (perhaps most and this one included) Kate is more attractive than Paris. Frankly, I think Paris is more in line with SJP -- a woman who other women think is beautiful, but who is not particularly admired by guys...

This again show maturity and intelligence. Not all top men are looking for 20 year old strippers to bang, this is a turn off to them...lol. They may date beautiful women, BUT they must have many many more attributes then just beauty.

Well, I guess you are right, lets change it to Michelle Pfieffer in her younger years or older...she is still sizzling!

Well look at Donald Trump.....he is extremely homely, but still married one of the most beautiful women imho, both rich, but both have different mentalities when it comes to women.
