EnigmaticClarity
If I was 5'10'' I'd date a 5'10'' guy because it'd be unlikely to get a guy above 6' so dating average would be my best short. Or I'd move to a different country so I can get a 6'2'' guy. Hmm...I'm leaning more to moving. So is it that you prefer to look up at a guy, to play the submissive role from a physical perspective, or is it that you just prefer that the guy be on equal or greater ground with respect to the average? In other words since if you were 5' 10" and 4-6 inches over the average (supposedly the female average in America is 5' 4", don't know where you live), is it that you also want a guy who is 4-6 over the average (5' 9.5" is average in America), i.e. around 6' 2"? The average is 5'6'' in America for women not 5'4''. For some reason guys think it's either 5'2'' or 5'4'' for women and most refuse to believe 5'10'' is the average for men. In 1999 the average height was 5'4''. Nothing to do with the submissive/dominant thing it's more of the latter reason I just want a guy relative to me height.

Which studies have you seen the average American female as being 5' 6"? Here's the Wikipedia article on the subject which lists results of height studies from multiple countries; the one for America is currently listing 5' 4" for women and 5' 9.5" for men: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_height

Maybe 5'6 is with heels Nope it's 5'6'' in America from reliable sources not Wikipedia. Whenever I try to list the sources on wikipedia I always get edited. Guys talk about women exaggerating height but men are often the ones who think the average woman is shorter than she really is. Guess it's to compensate for their own lack of height 5'4'' was the average in 1999.

If I was that unfortunate I'd just either suck it up and date shorter, date guys 6'4' to 6'6' or be single. I'd probably chose singledom.

udolipixie
What sources? Any source detailing the average and standard deviation of height worldwide. I had to search for it because I had guys telling me I was too tall and 5'10'' was too tall for a guy but I see those heights everyday. One of those cases where online /= real life I should have guessed those guys were just short guys with a twisted perception. Then when I looked online I kept finding old data and recent articles using old data. I find that most articles stating the Average height is 5'4'' use the 1999 data. It's quite funny really seeing as how the average range for women is 5'5''-5'8'' with 5'6'' being the most common occurrence. Despite 5'6'' being the most common occurrence for some reason 5'5'' was chosen in the whole new trend of articles of women getting taller due to 'toxic' environment articles. That Wikipedia article isn't referencing old data, it's referencing a recent study done by the Center for Disease Control in America. The study was written up in 2008 and based itself on survey data collected between 2003 and 2006. If you go beyond America and factor in worldwide surveys, the averages get even lower, which I assume is due to poor nutrition in developing nations. So I've got to repeat...what sources? I'm not being contentious, just trying to stick to facts as best we can best understand them. I've got no doubts you're seeing surveys showing women as being 5' 6" on average, but it's not "any" recent survey, and I didn't notice any consensus at 5' 6" in the first ten results of a Google search on the phrase "average american female height". Very Liberal/Political (Most women are very stupid when it comes to politics and it annoys me when they think they are intelligent). 4. Tattoos on their chest. Arms is even okay, back is okay, but their chest...that's just gross to me). 5. Women who discriminate against "short guys" without cause. Example: She thinks 5'8" is considered short yet she's only 5'3" and won't date someone under 6 ft tall.

I find that studies tend to do. Hence why I put recent articles based on 1999 data. In my research I find a lot of recent studies based their information on data a few years old. Then when you go to that data it turns out that data was based on info collected a few years ago. It's like a circle. The source being National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted from 1999-2002. I checked a recent NHANES survey the height was 5'5''-5'6'' for American females which is why I guess some articles want to use it as the new 'average' height for women with the whole Americans getting fatter & taller scare when the real average for Americans not worldwide is 5'6'' from the 5'5''-5'8'' group according to NHANES standard and deviation. For reference, here's the NHANES web site: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nhanes.htm I had the same trouble with cdc especially when I checked their source and found it was just a cycle. I thought NHANES would be easier & more reliable since it did 2 year groupings. I read an article by a Watkins couple and I remember that the data they showed that according to NHANES the average American height for women is 5'5''-5'6'' . I thought it was strange that 1999's data was 63.8 inches but got labeled as 5'4''. I'll check for online pdfs of it. It should be online since most print stuff is. emember the article was by a couple Watkins and they listed the standard deviation as 64.1 for women

It's cross-linked with the CDC.gov stats (also NHANES) that I quoted earlier, which are the prevailing height statistics used by every agency in the U.S. that would need them.
