UpDownAllAround Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Ok, for those who don't know I'm a 31 year old guy. So I went on Craigslist to look at potential ads. So I responded to a (supposed) lady's ad that ended up being a damned scam to get me to sign up for some dating site. I figure it might be a good idea since I got some responses on initial sign up (I never get responses from women) so I went ahead and started signing up but found out you have to pay for a year in advance. Then I Googled a bit and found out advertisers get $60 commission for signing up people. No wonder. :( Thanks a lot for the false advertising you @$$holes - saying it's $9.95/mo yet it's really $100+ to sign up. Ummmm...no thank you! What a freaking scam.
AHardDaysNight Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 This is why you should never place an ad or respond to an ad on craigslist. Too many weirdos. I once placed an ad to lose my virginity, but got all responses from gay guys, which freaked me the hell out!
Author UpDownAllAround Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 I've had great luck in terms of job stuff...but I'll take this one to heart and never respond to dating ads on Craigslist again.
CarrieT Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Craigslist was a great place to meet people - about a decade ago... It has since been over-run with scams, affiliate marketers, and professionals.
Rinas Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Craiglist is a fairly shady place. I've met some rather interesting people off CL and not all were positive experiences. (Selling things, or just platonic other females, etc)
collegeguy_24 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I met my ex on craiglist, looked how that ended up.
Abhuman Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Craigslist personals all look fake. It's like there are a set of about 10-15 templates that they repost over and over. Considering the shady people I've met via buying and selling music gear on there, I wouldn't recommend using it to meet a potential date. The only love I've found through CL is my kitty.
thatone Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 last time i used it was to put an ad on there to give away sawdust out of my shop. i figured someone might want to use it to put on their garden for mulch, and since it costs me to bring it to the dump, might as well, right? free is better than losing money. but even the guy who called about the free mulch flaked and never showed up!
