Should I put up with the stress and stay? Or leave without a job?

I know times are bad and I probably should stay in my job but I hate the long hours and my boss is a handful.

Life is short and I don't want the day before I die to be of me having nightmares about the job and stressed out of my mind about work. I also don't really like the jobscope, which is something different from what I thought I was getting into.

But I'm not entirely sure I should just up and leave before I find something else. Or should I?

Opinions?

Ask yourself, are you in a position to find a new job whilst still enduring the current one?

I have up and quit and never regretted it at some job places....Its YOUR precious time and Your career, if its not working out at the place, plant your passions elsewhere. I encourage co-workers and friends to find that career that sparks the passion and has the environment to grow and create a positive impact. It doesn't sound like this current job for you is the place to make that happen.

My boss once said-8-10 hours of YOUR LIFE is being paid for by this company, if its not REWARDING you then maybe you need to find that which does ( he really does say it in a kinder way/tone) .

How old are you? Is this a professional job (you got a degree for it)? How many jobs have you had? How long have you been at this job?

I've done that before so I'm a little tired of draining my savings before they could really go up. I believe I'm in a position to find a new job but I'm not sure how long that would take and it's something that worries me.

Maybe I'm not cut out to work because I really hate all those stress and having a boss that drains my energy. This one in particular makes herself out to be a diva.

I'm 34. It's a professional job though I didn't get a degree specifically for this job. I have a general degree that allows me to do this job.

I've had about five jobs. I've been in this one for a few months now and the previous job I had to leave even though I liked it because it was closing down. Besides one job that I stayed for almost a decade, the rest of the resume was a little patchy in terms of the duration.

I really don't know what to do. I do want to just up and leave but I don't know how it would look on my resume and how long it would take for me to find another job.

Having a job for 5 months only does look bad. If you want to become more valuable, do not leave. Show that you can withstand bad and prevail. Be smarter than her. Set a timeline for at least one year after you started. And start planning.

Are you in Linkedin? If not, get on today. Start filling up your profile. Start looking for contacts. Start looking for a professional organization to join and join it. Attend meetings and start networking; exchange business cards and start contacting people you meet. Attend happy hours. Invite influential people to events. Look for ways to send out press releases that have your name in it. Get your name on websites, with quotes about your industry, whatever you can brag about. If you want to stay in that company, look for ways to meet people above your boss - volunteer for things, get on committees, whatever it takes to show people above her that you're a go-getter and won't shirk work.

Start looking for other opportunities but don't just apply for them. Research the company, learn about the people at the top, learn about the company's plans and goals - become an expert on the company. If you get an opportunity to talk to someone there, dazzle them with your knowledge of the company. Join groups that will let you get closer to such people, attend the same cocktail parties, meet other people who can get you an interview.

Find out what else you need to be good at to get a better job and start training. Take community college classes, start working on an MBA, look for other 'courses' you can take to add onto your resume. Do what it takes to make you shine.

BEFORE you leave your job.

I would seriously focus on getting another job.

It is very difficult out there, trust me. Some places won't even consider you if you are unemployed...

Can you take some vacation time, to get away from that crap at work for a few days, and get yourself together?
