Im 25 and my hair is getting thin really fast. I dont know why. I did a full blood test and the only thing that was off was VitD (LOW). I used Rogain but more of my hair fell out. My hair is not falling out its just thinning. Im currently using Nioxin 2 and Alpecin, which is a caffeine shampoo. I cant figure out why my hair is thinning. I can only attribute my stress to it since Im always stressed out but that cant be it. I don't know what to do about stopping the thinning hair and I dont want to go on Propecia.

Anyone use these products or have any advice?

Have you had your hormone levels checked?

Does male pattern baldness run in your family?

Did you use Rogaine 5% twice a day for at least four months? I know nothing about those other potions but Rogaine and Propecia are the only two hair growth products proven to work by the FDA on a majority of men and women.

What is your diet like? Google nutrition and hair loss to see what you should be eating.

my aunts hair fell out due to stress at the back of her head. So stress can take your hair out.

I was a licensed stylist and I didnt reallly see the results of Nixon on clients.

You probably need to find out what is going on with your hair follicles. Also medicines can take your hair out as well.

Rx: Finasteride (Propecia)

...sexual side effects seem to occur in some men but it is effective.

I havent had my hormones checked but I have gotten everything else checked and aside from VitD, bilirubin, and ALT nothing else was wrong. Im not on any meds, and have some male pattern baldness on my moms side. I have been stressed and my diet is good. Im taking Biotin, and using the shampoos I mentioned. I dont want to go on propecia because of the sexual side effects. I dont have hair falling out but its noticeably thinner. every morning I wake up I see more of my scalp. Im freaking out. Been to 3 dermatologist and all they gave me was Tar shampoo, and told me to consider Propecia. I used rogain but everytime I applied it I had alot of hair in my hands. I never get hair in my hands only when I put something in my hair.

The first time I felt cold air on my scalp it freaked me out.. I was in my late 28's.

Thinning hair over time is something that men have to learn to live with.. stop all that rogaine and drug treatment crap and just embrace the way you are..

Now.. if your hair loss is rapid then you have something else and maybe treatment is the best way to go.. but if it happens over time, years.. then welcome to thinning hair and getting a higher forehead..

By the way.. I still have most of my hair.. just a higher forehead and thinner at the top...

I've been receding slowly since my late twenties, began to notice that draft on the top of my head in my late 30's. Took a look in the mirror and most of the hair was still there, just getting very fine, was also developing a bald patch at the back. Wasn't very impressed. Did a lot of reading, thought about it, decided I didn't really want to go bald if I can help it, (I've got some hefty scars on my head from an accident years back) and so decided to try propecia. Was wary of side effects so made a 6 month supply last a year by taking half a pill a day. There seemed to be no further hairloss or thinning. Didn't know if the stuff was working so spent 6 months without propecia and began to really notice hairloss again. Went back on it again earlier this year, this time a pill a day, the draught has completely gone, hair is thicker and the slight bald patch is almost filled up. The stuff works, no side effects at all. Must admit though, if I didn't have my scars I would probably just go bald naturally.

I've seen many people recommend castor oil for increased hair growth.
