irc333 Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Hello, I had a male acquaintance/friend who was at one time, dating this woman, apparently he was totally enamored by her...probably a little too needy. He wound up being engaged to a woman he was dating, but the engagement ended rather quickly, then they started "just dating"....and then it ended, probably lasted a year I suppose. I didn't know her all that well, but I knew him a little better....keep in mind...I was never that close with him. So I wouldn't necessarily call him a friend....more of an acquaintance. I don't stay in touch with him, never hang out with him or anything like that. It's not like we're buddies. I had her as a friend as well as him on FB. After they had broken up, I didn't immediately try to ask her out....but chatted with her over time and back and forth, kinda flirting and such. She had some pics up of herself in my neck of the woods, (yes, we do get some tourists coming to my rural area, lol). I mentioned how this is a nice area for more nice country-like events, and she said to let her know if anything comes up, she'd come here again. I asked her if she's up here again sometime, we should get together and if I could get her #. She did reply and mentioned she wouldn't want to cause a rift in my "friendship" with this guy. Personally, it's of no concern to me, because I really don't consider him a "Buddy" but more of an acquaintance. And it's not like a JUMPED on her the moment it ended either, been quite a few months. Now some might think it's a bad move to do this to a "friend" but if the friend isn't really a "friend", would it be of any concern to you? I personally don't mind....SHE even said it is of no concern to her either how he feels.
