Author alexa137 Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 thats really not an option, i dont have $30 a month to pay for a membership and its about 9 miles away
CarrieT Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 When I was unemployed, I walked - a lot; upwards of 20 miles a day. To the library. To the water. Through parks. To the museums (on free days). I people watched and read books. I taught myself new things (painting). And I masturbated a lot...
Author alexa137 Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 i live close to the country so the closest places near me are a pizza joint,an insurance agency, a bar and a pawn shop! everything else is at least 4 miles away! i did walk today from 12-1pm then 7-8pm, and the last thing, forget it! after too many bad breakups, sex is the last thing on my mind right now and for awhile, it makes me cry!
SpiralOut Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 When I was unemployed I did a lot of reading, writing, cooking and baking because that's what I love to do, and it's all free except food but you need to eat anyway so you can't really help that. Running is free and helps to burn off some energy. I also watched too much tv and started sleeping too much. I hope you find something soon!
Author alexa137 Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 yes, its annoying! my daily routine is usually: 7am wake up computer & tv grocery store clean computer & tv eat computer & eat walk computer & tv cook dinner computer & tv 11pm bed
Eddie Edirol Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Im back and forth on the computer looking for jobs, recruiters, staffing agencies, Im obsessed with looking for work, kinda enjoy doing it. Ill be screwed if I actually get a job...
Art_Critic Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 yes, its annoying! my daily routine is usually: 7am wake up computer & tv grocery store clean computer & tv eat computer & eat walk computer & tv cook dinner computer & tv 11pm bed No face to face time spent looking for a job ? Some of the most successful job hunters I have seen to date did face to face, walking into places etc coupled with the computer they would do walk-ins after they did the searches. Jobs don't always just show up on your screen thru some listing or search..Sometimes you have to go out and find them. I have even had donuts brought to my company by a guy looking to get in on the interview process... It worked...
Tony T Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 And I masturbated a lot... I've actually noticed that many more people have been feeble-minded and have hair growing on their hands since the economy got really bad.
brokenblade Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I myself do a little bit of online work for various clients. It is not as much as the jobs that I used to have, but it gives me enough money for a meal.
FarmGirl Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I've been unemployed since May of 2010 when my employer of 9 years went under. I cook, bake, sew, grow vegetables, can vegetables, make new and insane pastries & other delectables (I perfected Lemon curd this winter), I play with my 4yo. I'm currently starting a small etsy shop with my sewing & vintage items... Learn to bake! There are tons of amazing blogs out there with wonderful how-tos. Amaze your friends with your culinary skills. Volunteer at a local school to help at risk kids. Or learn to forage for wild foods. Write a book, write a blog. Paint, draw, make infused vodka, make homemade vanilla, make homemade wines and hard ciders... Perfect "the burger". Learn to knit or crochet. Make bead bracelets for Christmas. Find a free yoga group. Walk, walk, walk! Good luck! ))
Moetato Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I recently started volunteering at a hospital a few hours a week to keep a little busy, and I go to the gym once a week to clear my mind. I've started reading books again too. (I know it sounds weird, but there was a period of time I did not want to read due to being so burnt out from reading so much crap in college. )
Author alexa137 Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 funny! i did try volunteering! and i was turned down! can you believe it? it was at my local hospital, which i thought would be great since its only 2 blocks away and i could get in the door somehow! i dont want to cook or bake, im already fat and have diabetes cant do anything with hands because i have carpal tunnel in both wrists from doing data entry for 25 yrs i havent seen too many help wanted on the doors of businesses, i dont get out much and only go to the local grocery store, but when i do go somewhere i usually ask if they are hiring! my unemployment ends in 3 weeks! then i might as well go under!
User Named Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Do you qualify for disability? If so, you can hire a lawyer to file a claim and it won't cost you anything--the lawyer will get a cut if you are approved.
Author alexa137 Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 no i dont qualify, unless carpal tunnel, but i doubt it!
carhill Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 When I'm not busy in the shop (that's 'unemployed' if one is self-employed), I'm selling off unneeded assets, brokering stuff for other customers, fixing up the house, working on the rentals, helping friends out, etc, etc. There's always something to do. Today it's yard work, getting the RV ready for camping and posting some auctions and classifieds. Most campgrounds have wi-fi so I can be buying and selling even while camping should the need arise. I hate to say it but the last employment application I submitted was at 19 years old. No clue on that part. My current resume would suck big time. Hope it works out.
