It was our 2nd year anniversary yesterday (or today for most of you!) and things just kept going wrong. Lol. However, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We couldn't be together but, hey, we had a pretty long chat!!

I could have easily decided to get upset when things went wrong but instead of that, we just laughed about it. (First time webcam quality was low, first time Skype kept cutting off, first time my pc shut down for no reason, package arrived but he missed the postman etc). I think a sense of humour definitely comes in handy!!

It wasn't the most romantic anniversary but it was fantastic nonetheless~ I fell in love with him even more and I think anniversaries are great for making you realise even more how lucky you are to have that person in your life.

Another 5 years to go~~~ And I just want to wish the rest of you the best and to hang in there~~~ :)

How do you spend your anniversaries when you can't be together??

Congratulations CHSH! :bunny: Sounds like you guys had fun despite the skype problems.

It's our 2nd anniversary in 10 days and we'll just be talking on the phone as normal. Last year we had a long conversation on skype but at the moment we don't have skype, so I guess I'll just have to enjoy listening to his very sexy kiwi accent.

Thanks!! Yes, we did have a lot fun despite the problems haha. :lmao:

Ooh! Early congratulations for your 2nd anniversary!!

Do you guys usually send gifts on anniversaries/special events?

The SO's culture doesn't seem to put that much importance on anniversaries and such although I think I'm starting to influence him lol.

This isn't a cultural thing. It's a gender thing :p

Actually, I'm not sure it is - unless I have a strong male side (which some say I do! :p)

I don't attach much importance to anniversaries in terms of gifts etc. We give each other gifts whenever we feel like it so no gift on an anniversary isn't a big deal. On a birthdays it would be though!

So, to answer your question CHSH, no we don't give gifts on anniversaries - the postage costs way too much for a start (12,000 miles!!!)

Wow! What countries are you guys in??? And I thought mine was far~! (Around 5500 miles)

I like giving gifts (I guess I'm the type that likes to spoil the other in a relationship :) ). He's not really the type but I guess he feels bad that I send him stuff even though I've told him repeatedly that I'm doing it because I want to. ><

But 12 000 miles...I'm still gobsmacked about that!!

I'm in the UK and he's in NZ - couldn't be any further apart!!! :):(

We do both enjoy giving and receiving gifts but because of the distance we tend to do it when we're actually together. Sometimes we leave wrapped presents behind after our visits, which are for Christmas or birthdays, and then we have to wait weeks or even months before we can open them.

I think last year on our anniversary he was working all day and because of the time difference (11 to 13 hours depending on the time of year) we didn't get to talk at all - we sent each other 'happy anniverary' texts and neither of us could decide if the correct date was 3rd or 4th September. I think it was the evening of 3rd September here, but the morning of the 4th September there!

Don't you just love inter-continental LDRs?!!!!!!
