Have I lost her?

I met a girl on a trip to Europe this summer. Personally, I'm in love with her and have fallen for her literally since the moment I laid eyes on her. Of course I want her to have these feelings, but we aren't even on the relationship level.

 

We talk everyday over Facebook, but she has not once initiated conversation with me. Of course, I tend to try and wait for her to initiate but she's not on Facebook regularly so often I end up breaking and just initiating.

 

Her replies to my chat shows interest at times, and we do have laughs, but they are normally short and often if I didn't reply it seems she could let the conversation end.

 

Today I talked to her for a total of 6 hours (on and off because of time difference and meals), and I would say that only 20% of it was free-flowing conversation, the rest kind of felt forced on my part.

 

However, she uses a ton of smiley faces and emoticons with me, things I thought had to do with liking a guy as a sign in online chats. I think she is laughing a lot, but she puts instead of haha so sometimes I don't know if she just does it out of habit and isn't really laughing.

 

I feel like she's sending me mixed signals, so I decided to just tell her how I feel in a letter.

 

Do you guys think that was the right decision, and do you think I've lost her?

I don't think you've lost her. You won't know til she replies. She chatted with you for 6 hours in one day. That says alot and is a good sign. The letter's already been sent so all you can do is wait. Your letter puts it all out there. At least now she'll know where you stand and how you feel. Also it sounds like you two have been talking for awhile now, anyway. I think it's better to know how the other person feels instead of having to wonder.
