quietGuy13 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I was passing by a company and i looked at a NOTICE/WARNING sign it said that the materials used in the building can be carcenogenic. what the???? Ok, so is there no escape from cancer?
carhill Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Sure, and a lot of older homes have lead and asbestos in them. Tough world out there. I've worked in the midst of carcinogens for the majority of my life, working in heavy industry and the oil services business. So far, I'm not dead and don't have cancer. 52 and counting. Living is risky. Take reasonable precautions and live. The alternative sucks.
Disillusioned Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 No lie, bwana. Ever read "Fatal Deception" by Michael Bowker? He points out that the only way to avoid getting lung cancer or emphysema from asbestos is to take all the asbestos out of the buildings that still contain it. Asbestos is rock in fiber form, and once those particles get into your lungs, they stay there. And if you breathe in enough asbestos and you have the right DNA sequence, it's Big C time.
