is having a child or an abortion more damaging to a relationship?

So the appointment was a catch up? Try and be patient with her (which I'm sure you are doing). Her hormones are going psycho and I'm sure she is terribly torn... The baby things, if her friends are telling her not to get an abortion-that's prob why they bought them.

How did the counceller appointment go?

@ Somedude-not speaking on behalf if D-lish, but from an outsider point of view...this is a really sensitive topic for her afte having a miscarriage the her fiancé leaving a few weeks after. No wonder she thinks men suck. Just be gentle with her ok...

I understand that. That's why I'm not taking it personally and trying to be polite.

There are two distinct sides to this issue and it really is men vs. women. Right now, society is not that fair to men in this issue.

I wish there was some sort of male birth control pill or patch so that this situation would never happen.

I've given up on aborton I guess I just hope everything goes as well as possible. I'm worriedabouttelling my parents. I think I'm going to wait til I have to tell them. Maybe in 2 months.

One person decides if the baby is born or not and what to do with it, if it is.

If he doesn't want it, and she does; why should he get any burden?

As I said before, the only power a man has, is to wear a condom or get a vasectomy. No doctor would preform a vasectomy on a teenager and even then, who says he's not going to want to have children when he's ready?

He did the only thing he could.

So why do men suck?

You're right, he should carry no burden simply because they both became sexually aroused and had to deal with a broken condom. SHE should be left to her own devices and deal with this unfortunate circumstance on her own- forever.

Not only that, but she should not be allowed to have ANY sort of feelings or conflictions regarding having an abortion or not- she should just do it without having any feelings about it.

The only power any sexually active male should have to carry is the fact that they have entered into the agreement with a "barrier" (condom). If that barrier fails- it can only be the woman's fault if that barrier fails. You're right- it's the woman that should take the blame for this- and she should take the full weight of the consequences

Why do men like YOU suck? Just read the preceding. If none of that sinks in, you have NO CLUE about dating or being a part of something bigger than you are. You have no business even dating if that's you're stance on life. Shame on you.

A male birth control pill as well as one for HPV is in the making still. Sadly though it takes a long time for new drugs to go to market.

Sportsfan, I understand the pressure you must feel. Have you and your girlfriend been able to discuss what happened at the clinic together? Are you making plans on how to maintain a relationship as you tackle this pregnancy together?

I worry that resentment is building on your side, not just because she didn't show up, but because of the fatigue she's experiencing.

While you might not feel ready to discuss this with your parents, is there anyone in your life with whom you could discuss this? Share your fears, vent, ask for support?

And I agree on waiting before telling the parents. Doctors usually advise waiting 10-12 weeks in the pregnancy before announcing it anyway.
