my nan is very ill with cancer and we have been told she is about to die any minute so my mum has gone to stay at her house. I havent seen/spoke my nan since i was a kid (im now 27) and im not close at all to her. But i love my mum and obviously she will be devistated when it happens. I have never known anyone to die as yet and being that my nan isnt close to me I dont know how to act. i live quite far from my family and im not sure what to do when she dies and my family call me to tell me so. Of course i will attend her funeral but until then do i visit my parents? do i stay at their house for a few days? what do i say? any advice please. thanks!!

I'm in sort of the same position, except I have done it before, and I am just ok with death when it comes naturally.

You should give your mom a little alone time, and then go visit. If she wants to talk about it she will, and there's no right or wrong way to act, just be there for your mother and maybe do some chores around the house for her...let her be lazy and cope with her loss.

It's ok that you didn't have a relationship with her, and no feelings as far as I am concerned are right or wrong, so you can say however you're feeling and I am sure your mother will understand.
