Hi all, I'm new here and would like some advice on a situation w/ a girl that comes to the store i work at sometimes. I would like some male perspectives especially!

So I work at a big grocery store in central downtown. I work in the bakery department. I'm a Caucasian fellow, pretty confident and would say I am good looking. A month or 2 ago this cute African-American girl came in the store. I noticed her when I was unloading boxes in the bakery department, and she was standing there getting a drink from one of those frozen fridges, while staring at me. She seemed so distracted by me, she could hardly focus on closing the little door to get her drink. Well I looked back at her, I didn't smile and neither did she. When I looked for a while she cut eye contact, got her drink and walked away, but looked at me again and starred as she was walking away.

In order to get out of the store, you have to walk past my department, so when she walked by again she turned her head back to look again. After that, I hadn't seen her in a while. Just Monday, however, I was walking straight, and I saw her coming up out of an isle with items, I walked right past her, and when she looked at who was walking past her, her eyes seemed to have widened. We kept eye contact until I crossed her. She went to the check out, and she looked back at me, and when she saw me looking at her (I was curious) she seemed taken back, and quickly looked away. I'm not familiar with African-American women, but they like white guys? Do you think she likes me? Why didn't she smile at me at least? Just shy?

Idk what to think of it. Fellas, if a female acted this way toward you, what would your reactions be?

If I was you I would totally go up to her and try to get her #. Did you smile at her maybe she was waiting for you to smile at her?

If you can make eye contact and smile at her then she smiles back, you are golden.

One of my closest friends is Black and she is attracted to white dudes. Just go for it.

Good luck.

She seems like she is interested in you, or else she wouldnt be staring at you. If you are interested why not say hi and introduce yourself.

Yeah, she definitely likes you!

Unless you're a racist who hates black chicks you should have probably tried to generate some positive energy already. How hard is it to smile? If you don't get a chance to speak with her at all and you're interested, don't miss another chance to set her at ease that you're a benevolent person. It's not unheard of that after this one might get a little testy, like "oh, NOW you want to be friendly..." I know, it's weird but it happens. So, smile and nod a hello at least and take note if she snaps away or returns the gesture. I like African American and West Indian females--they are often not shy and almost never stuck up or overly-entitled. Good luck.

Yeah but this girl seems timid and shy. It's kinda cute though.

That's why I'm urging you to project something that tells her you're at least not a threat. It's a start. She may not return your gesture of positive recognition this time but you'll know next time because she's kinda on the spot a little to either return your gesture positively or go her way all together. You said she looked back at you. That's usually good. But you still don't know if she wanted to connect with you or felt you were gawking at her and didn't like it. Someone else will no jump on and "just go over there and talk to her" which is always easy to tell someone else. I take it that's not your style and you may be a little on the not-so-assertive side in that regard. Start pushing things positively right away the next time and don't be caught looking blank-faced at her. It gets weird very quickly.

Timid and shy? So what? Next time she comes in and looks at you, go up to her and say hi. Dont expect a result, but if you get a good one, it'll be a nice surprise. Have fun with it, make her laugh.
