Now before you say anything, .....think about guys who work with puppets or ventrolocuists. Nobody says anything to them and yet they also use toys. Also, people playing with balls etc. Sports etc. even basketball. Nobody considers them childish. The basketball is a toy thing so it's basically the same thing. I don't see anything wrong with playing with toys. People play VIDEO GAMES. even adults play VIDEO games with cute little characters in video games.(especially the Anime type games made in japan) I don't care if it's Call of duty. or violent video games. They're still little figures they're playing with. So it's the same as Teddy bears. Teddy bears /stuffed animals are just a way to put your imagination to work So anyways what do you think? And what do you think if a guy you were dating/or wanted to date played with Teddy bears?
KR10N Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 lol. You'd make a great 'pretend time' tea-party guest. I don't think it's weird, I still have my collection of Hot Wheels, a retro Optimus Prime as well as a sock monkey. Oh, & I'm a gamer as well!

I was a kid when we visited their house and they had this set up of teddy bears. I didn't know what to think of it since they didn't have children. These bears were sitting at a tea party type childrens table. I asked about it and my mom told me that the these people considered these bears their children, because they weren't able to have any children of their own. They even came home from work during the day to "feed" them. Too weird. Never knew why my parents hung out with them.

Oh:cool: I had smurfs- but I packed them away when I was 14. I had over 200 smurfs, lol. I'm 41 now- I wouldn't play with them, bit I'd sell them to the highest bidder:D

But I was bananas for Playmobil figurines & Weebles. I have a few stuffed animals for sleeping with (a Godzilla, penguin, and a fish). But I kick them under the bed when I have company.

I've been in a relationship with at least one woman who was into it as much as I was or more, and I think for her it was actually a plus. In a couple of other relationships I don't think it was an issue one way or the other. The bottom line is it depends on the woman. If she likes stuffed toys also, it may be absolutely fine with her. If she simply likes YOU enough, she's probably willing to put up with some quirks as long as you don't go overboard. When getting involved with a new woman I'd suggest you test the waters here and see how she reacts. Don't ask her out right and expect an honest answer, you have to be able to read her response in her actions (as with many things). Scott

Since they were hippies, I wonder if maybe the bear thing was an oblique reference to the Grateful Dead. Although the feeding them part is strange.

Adults don't do pretend play with stuffed animals/teddy bears unless they're playing with a child. When your nephew is there, it's perfectly fine to play with the stuffed animals with him. Doing it when you're alone = very weird. You might find a few women who don't find it strange, but you'll have to look really hard to find that woman. Maybe if you went to some stuffed animal conventions, you could find a like minded woman.

Saying that video games or football are 'toys' too is not really relevant. 'Normal' is defined by what a large majority of society does. Banana costumes are clothes, so are jeans and a T-shirt, but that does not mean that wearing them isn't weird. Then again, there are certain 'weird' things I like about guys (not playing with stuffed toys though, sorry), so if you're not a troll, well, you may find a girl who likes it someday.

In case you didn't notice, society has different expectations of males and females. I guess it's hypocritical to call a female 'weird' for shaving her head and dressing in boxer shorts and a huge tee, just because males do it all the time?

I think it's societally more acceptable for a woman to collect, play, have stuffed animals. I don't create these "rules". I just stated how it is going to be perceived by a large number of people.
