Lilmisus Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Today, I went to a grocery store with my mom to help her out before going to work. When we first got there, she asked me to go to the deli and get a pound of anything on sale, while she shopped around the other side of the store. When I went up there, the cute deli guy looked at me and gave me a smile as he was helping out the older lady before me and as I looked at the food. When it was my turn, he asked how he could help me, and laughed while getting the food. He then told me that I was the first person below their eighties to go in today and said that they were practically dead. I laughed at that but didn't say too much. He then asked how the display looked and said there was no food there, and he wasn't sure if it was their way of closing it down or what. We made some more small talk - he said he was closing tonight and opening tomorrow, and asked where I worked at since I told him I open tomorrow as well. We talked about a few more irrelevant things in the five minutes I was there, laughed and flirted a bit and whatnot, then I went on my way. As I was on the other side of the store a minute later, I saw him standing there smiling at me, and I just gave a slight smile back and continued helping out my mom. I saw him a few more times, but I didn't want to say anything those times just because he was at work, and his coworkers were all around. Tonight, since I'm spending the night with my friend and her daughter and they live a couple minutes away (and since we need to do a little bit of shopping tonight or tomorrow), I'm thinking about asking her to come with me over there tomorrow. I would love to talk to him again, and get his number or give him mine, but I don't know what's the best way to go about that. Her and I don't need anything from the deli, but how could I go by there pretending to need something just to start up conversation with him? What would I even say without coming across as the total stalker that I'll be by going over there just to see him again? Or is this just a bad idea?
alphamale Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 that meat you bought today came in a plastic ziploc baggie right? well, tomorrow write your name and # on the outside of the baggie with a permanent marker. take it back to the store and tell the clown you like that the meat is bad and you want another pound. then tell him to call you sometime if he is so inclined

Make it happen Lilmisus.
musemaj11 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I dont know what you should do but I do know he is interested. When I worked as a cashier, I would only chat up girls whom I found attractive.

Too bad I'm at my friend's house tonight and not planning on going home for a couple days, therefore..not around the meat. Any other suggestions?
Allisha Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Go home now! I want to know what happens.
Flipper Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 That makes me want to work as a cashier... again...
Flipper Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 ^And that kids, is how it's done. Make it happen Lilmisus. The plastic bag idea is awesome
musemaj11 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Do you go to that store a lot though? I would never ask out anyone at a place I regularly visit because if it doesnt go well, then I will be too embarrassed to go there again.
cerridwen Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 The plastic bag idea is awesome Isn't it, Flipper? OP, let the meat get good and rotten over the next couple of days. THEN take it in.
Flipper Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 OP, let the meat get good and rotten over the next couple of days. THEN take it in. I wouldn't let it get rotten. I would go in tomorrow with the meat just to make it look like you only went in there to see him
cerridwen Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I wouldn't let it get rotten. I would go in tomorrow with the meat just to make it look like you only went in there to see him That'd be ideal. But it sounds like Lilmisus won't be back for a couple of days. So, I'm advocating her sticking to the plastic bag idea, even if it means the meat will sit.
Feelin Frisky Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Oh wow, that'd be awesome I'd totally do it too, believe it or not. Too bad I'm at my friend's house tonight and not planning on going home for a couple days, therefore..not around the meat. Any other suggestions? Yeah. What kind of deli is it? You could go back and ask him for some tongue--half a pound. Enough for a good hero. That's sure to give him an in. But seriously, if you go by when it wouldn't put either of you on the spot you can say you just came in to see him again. I'd think it would be much classier to just offer him your number than to weasel it in on him in a zip lock bag. Just say I'd like to give you my number if you would like to call and talk or w/e. No biggie at all. Men love that. Take it from me.

If it were me I would think that was really cool that she came in jsut to talk to me again and "bring the meat back," I love when girls try to make up a fake scenario just to talk to me again
SincereOnlineGuy Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 my mom... asked me to go to the deli and get a pound of anything on sale Why do I get the sense that your mom wasn't talking about food????
Curious-One Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I wouldnt do anything crazy like others have mentioned. Just go in say hi and ask him if he wants to go grab something to eat later. Simple as that. If a girl brought me back the bag w her number on it and told me she wanted a pound of meet later i would think she was weird/slut and would be a complete turnoff.
musemaj11 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I wouldnt do anything crazy like others have mentioned. Just go in say hi and ask him if he wants to go grab something to eat later. Simple as that. Yea, often the simplest way is the best way. Just visit the store a couple more times and chat the guy up a little bit everytime. Then start asking what his day offs are or what time he gets off then you can proceed from there. A lot more natural.
Author Lilmisus Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Well, I wasn't able to visit him today, I had too much going on to go by there. What sucks about this is that he only told me that he worked today, and not what his schedule was like...which was why I was hoping to take advantage of it today. But right now, I'm thinking I will go by there a few more times. The grocery store he works at is only 15 minutes from where I live, which is a lot closer than most stores, and I'm hoping to convince my friend to go there in the morning, but right now I'm unsure. Since he works right by the bakery area as well, I'm thinking about going by there pretending to look at the cakes and then just say "hi" if he's there and go from there Or maybe ask for a free sample of the meat he has...not too weird..right? I feel like a creepy stalker girl Is it just me, or is that a bad thing?
musemaj11 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 (edited) There is a fine line between courting and stalking. Courting is not easy. This is why many if not most guys dont like it. I wish I could just meet a girl Im interested in and just fall into a relationship with her without having to go through this complicated courting process. Edited August 8, 2011 by musemaj11
alphamale Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 (edited) so what happened Litmus? i mean lilmissus Edited August 11, 2011 by alphamale
LexiB Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 so what happened Litmus? i mean lilmissus Yeah, do tell. I was rooting for you!

Really?? I just always assume they're being nice! I guess I've been blind... But I LOVE alpha's idea and I'm so hoping you had the cajones to do that!!!
alphamale Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 But I LOVE alpha's idea and I'm so hoping you had the cajones to do that!!! yea i liked the idea too but that baggie of deli meat is probably long gone, oh well
zengirl Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Going past the cute ideas in thread . . . Why do you feel like a creepy stalker? "Do you want to grab coffee sometime?" (substitute a drink if you like or dinner if you're bold) 7 words. Really easy. Or hell, "Would you like to call me?" 6 words that have served me well through the years. Almost every guy I've dated, I've "picked out" in some way.
