I get confused really confused.. I don't really know what girls mean when they say "My girlfriend". Since when did women start using that word.

Especialy nowadays, tons of women are openly BI or Les. so when women say "My Girlfriend", I don't really know what they are meaning. does it mean GIrlfriend as in we're dating or does it mean female friend.

IT could mean either so....I dont know.. I just get confused.

It's not a very effective word if i have to ask.

A: Me and my girlfriend are going downtown...

B: Sorry, do you mean your girlfriend you're dating or your female friend

This...really isn't anything new. I've heard countless women refer to their women friends as "Girlfriends" since I was like 5 or so. It depends on the woman. Some will be referring to their friends and some will be referring to the woman they're in a relationship with.

I am straight and refer to all of my female friends as my girlfriends.

And to confuse you even further, we often say we have dates with one another. For example, I have a dinner date with one of my closest girlfriends tomorrow night. ;)

Hey, girlfriend! ;)

do you have sex after the dates?

If I have a boyfriend at the time and he's waiting at home for me to return from my date with my girlfriend, sure!

I never say the word "date" (that would strike me as odd) with anyone but a romantic partner. (I'd use "plans" a la, "I have dinner plans with a girlfriend.") Nor have I heard that before (I have heard "Man date" but I've yet to hear anyone really use it except maybe a girl jokingly about some dudes), so that ones a new one on me.

I guess it's because if someone were to mistake me for gay or bi, it wouldn't be some kind of huge deal. I mean, if I realized it, I'd correct them (because I'd correct anything that wasn't true. . . ) but I'm not homophobic about it or anything. And "girlfriend" is basically just a term for female friend AS WELL. So. . . whatevs. People who I'm talking to (usually people I know) will generally know I'm straight.

Plus, my Facebook says I'm into Guys, so I'm covered. :lmao:

*shrug* No one I know in real life has ever questioned my sexuality. So, I'm good. :)

Oh, I didn't mean it like that. I think the "date" thing would get confusing to me, because I have male friends too, and to me "plans" is just the unisex friends word. Or would you say you have a date with a male friend too? (Could be different regions/language usage.)

You're thinking too much. Seriously.

It's just to mean her female friends. Most women like the idea of a pack of hot chicks out on the town.

Who cares if women have les or bi thoughts? If she's into you, she's certainly not thinking about another woman at that moment.
