How much sex do you think is normal/healthy in a relationship or to make you feel satisfied and not like you're going through a dry spell and also correlate it to how long the relationship has lasted? My boyfriend and I have been together 5 years * we live seperately since I don't believe in living together before a rock is on my finger but i sleep over there a few times a week* and we have sex usually 2-4 times a week sometimes more/sometimes less depending if someone is out of town, how busy our schedules etc. I saw him Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat,Sun, and Today but we had only had sex 3/6 times i saw him.. mainly due to me having to work/dog sit so not staying over... Sometimes I wonder if that's too little and he's not satisfied? He never says anything but was wondering how much the average joe/jane needs?

Ideally Id go for once a day, however he had a lower drive than me, so it was about 4-5 times a week. (I was with him for over 5 years.) However, every couple is different, go for what makes you comfortable.

According to a study that I read about recently that had to do with how often married couples have sex, I was actually surprised how seldom they do have sex. I think the average was a couple of times a week for young married couples, a couple of times a month for 30-40 age group, once every other month for 50 age group, a couple of times a year for 60+, and not at all for 70+. Those were the averages in the study that I read about. I was quite surprised about how little people were having sex. I don't know the statistics on unmarried couples that have been together a long time, but they are probably similar to the statistics for married couples.
