Interesting... my parents have been married for 35 years? My grandparents are at 59 years.

Guess your friend is right, you should jump on his bandwagon and quit

you are hanging out with the wrong friends, I have friends that have been married for about 2 years now and are still happy.

Start hanging out with positive people especially in a time like this. You do not need to be hanging out with any wet blankets right now.

Hollywood relationships and those people who follow them and idealize them are the ones who will have you believe this. I agree with wilson. I have parents who are married 30 yrs and grandparents 60 yrs and friends 7yrs and more. I was dumped after 6yrs and Ive tried hard to not be jaded by it or let me not trust in love. But not trusting in love is not trusting in life. If you know your going to die one day why live? this is the same negative mentality your friends will have you believe. Life is hard and loving can be painful but we cant give up on ourselves and the possibilities.
