teaforone Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 There's a guy i've started to like and we've known each other for awhile but just as acquaintances. Recently though, within the past few months he's been coming to hang out around some of our friends on Sundays at the park and i've been going and hanging out at the video game store while he and several other friends play magic the gathering. We don't talk much in person, the most we do is he'll say something out loud to everyone and i'll reply to it and then he'll answer but it's more like an off hand reply not directed at me at all. If not that, then there are times where he'll talk to everyone around but me or his friend will be standing there saying "So Bob, did you know Emily had never had lucky charms before?" then he'll say something and i'll say something and it will be the end of that. And there are times where it seemed like he was showing off by blowing smoke rings, or purposely getting a play fist fight with his friend while i was sitting right there beside one of them. All of this could be nothing, but i find it a little strange that his friend would just randomly up and tell him something like my cereal habits or keep inviting me to go out with them when they go smoke. When we're on the internet/facebook we have no problem talking to each other, it's just this talking in person is kind of hard especially when you're like the two of us and are shy and awkward before really getting to know someone. The people i've talked to either have told me to just continue trying to talk to him and see where it goes, ask him to hang out, tell me i need to just give up on him and find someone more out going, or tell me to get over being shy and make something happen. How can you be more comfortable around someone you don't know all that well, but are past the acquaintance stage? Is all of this nothing and i'm just trying to turn it into something?
