Shaun-Dro Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I'm done with this dame. Here's the recap for you guys: My roommate (brother) spent the night at our cousins in Queens, so I had my girlfriend come over late last night. Everything was sweet all the way to morning. I made myself and her some breakfast, which I normally don't do given how I feel about "roles" in the relationship, but I like her, so I did it anyway. She enjoyed it and kicked back with me to watch a little bit of the Yankees game. I'm not a fan but she is, so we have fun debates on it. Around 3pm I got hungry and asked her to make me something to eat. I even got the food out and set it on the counter for her to sort. She said okay, smiled, and entered the kitchen to "supposedly" get started. I noticed she was taking a long time in there, coming out with the box of stuffing in her hands, asking me if I'm sure I want this. I said of course! She goes back into the kitchen and hangs out in there longer, reading the contents on the food boxes. I see this and question her on it but then she tries to play it off by laughing, making quips and coming on to me because she knows how easy it is for me to get horny for her, especially when it's warm like this and her wearing these tight ass short-shorts. We fool around a little bit, but then my stomach gets the best of me so I tell her straight up, "Babe, look, I'm famish, just get the food ready so we can finish watching the game and maybe head to the park after." This was when her stalling grew enormous and I figured out that she lied about knowing how to cook! From the get, we established what we both wanted in a relationship and I was honest with her about my intentions and expectations which are very simple: cook some meals for me some times and just stay sexy to me. It's so easy. I would take care of the rest for us. But she lied! She can't cook and never knew how! This angered me and an argument ensued with her screaming at me in Spanish, which she knows I don't understand, so I try to contain my temper by telling her to just get out before it escalates. She has a little bit of a temper herself so she tells me to make her get out so I grab her by the arm, which she tries to fight, but it's useless, and I heave her on my shoulders (she's 5' 115lb) and drop her outside the door. After slamming and locking it, she bangs a couple times and screams some more in Spanish, followed by a barrage of silly texts which I ignore. So, that's it. I know this was a long read but I hope it was interesting for you guys to complete, just so you all can get the full story. As much as I liked her and thought she was a fine catch, I can't take the lying and then the attitude afterwards when she's caught, instead of just owning up to it like a real woman. Perhaps, if she had done so, things could be different. So, there you have it, 2 months of dating, no sex, many hickeys leftover, and 2 arguments. I know I did the right thing to end it now because later if we get in deeper, I'll discover more lies and it'll really get bad.

Eddie Edirol Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I say use her as a booty call, you will never be able to trust her words after this. Keep seeing her, give her the line of relationship, and then after you get the sex, say you lied.
Cracker Jack Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Surprised that you weren't having sex with her. I thought you were. Anyway, it depends. Do you miss her?
Nexus One Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 What exactly did she tell you then? Because there's a difference between: 1. Yes I'll cook you meals. (that can imply trying to cook meals without much knowledge beforehand) 2. Yes I know how to cook. And even if she knows how to cook, that doesn't mean she knows how to cook every type of meal. It's possible you witnessed her trying to cook a meal she never prepared before. That being said, that's a really really old-fashioned reason to break-up over.

This is right on the money, especially if she's of a Spanish background, she may not know how to cook non-Spanish food. Heck, she may not have even understood the directions on the box. Who knows... You said you wanted food and she went to cook it--even if she didn't know how, she was still trying and I wouldn't go as far as to call her a liar. I think this incident is a silly reason for a breakup.
John Michael Kane Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Real women know how to cook. Amen, amen.
Els Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Real women know how to cook. And real men know how to fix the pipes, drive a tractor and build a house from scratch, am I right? I'm still trying to decide if the OP is a troll. I concur with NexusOne, the whole story is rather mind-boggling.
thatone Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 but what if i do know how to fix the pipes and build a house from scratch? (and fwiw i'm from new orleans, men cook all the time, everyone is a wanna-be chef)
Els Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 but what if i do know how to fix the pipes and build a house from scratch? (and fwiw i'm from new orleans, men cook all the time, everyone is a wanna-be chef) Then that's awesome! C'mere, you real man, you. P.S. Btw, to anyone who can't read 2 posts up or comprehend satire before their fingers get all itchy and start flaming me for the 'real man' statements, those were a tongue-in-cheek comment to musemaj based on his own 'real women' one.
John Michael Kane Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 And real men know how to fix the pipes, drive a tractor and build a house from scratch, am I right? And real women know how to clean a house, get a job, and knit clothes from scratch, right?
wezol Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 And real men know how to fix the pipes, drive a tractor and build a house from scratch, am I right? Yes? I mean come on, is this rhetorical? Of course we all know how to do those things... But yes, not a good reason to break up with someone over. She was at least trying. Most girls would look at you cross eyed if you just set some food down and said "hey, make me some food".
Els Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) Wezol, I am pretty sure musemaj previously said that he can't. In fact, I'm pretty sure he said he can't do anything 'manly' except fix a lightbulb, change a tyre, and do computer/networking stuff, despite his claims about what 'real women' can or cannot do. Unfortunately, I can also do all three of those, so I suppose I'm as much a 'real man' as he is. And real women know how to clean a house, get a job, and knit clothes from scratch, right? Nah, not a job, 'real women' never got jobs back then. But clean a house, knit clothes from scratch, probably. Anyway, musemaj already said that real women know how to cook. Why don't you guys collaborate a proper list or something? Edited August 15, 2011 by Elswyth
mr.dream merchant Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I think its a silly reason to break up with a woman for.

I'm actually a firm believer that women should be able to check their fluids, air their tires up, change a tire, change a light bulb, you know, basic household things. If a dryer breaks, water heater springs a leak, car breaks down, etc., I'm here for that.
Ross MwcFan Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Seems like a bit of a daft reason to split up with someone. I mean big deal if she lied about knowing how to cook. Maybe she just felt embarrassed about not knowing how to.
serial muse Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Should I move on?? Wait, I thought you already did. So you're saying you're not really over her? You guys didn't even have sex! You threw her out of the house. So, it's done. Way too much drama.
SoleMate Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 OP: Either you are a troll, or a criminal assailant. Probably a troll. The funniest part of this thread is how all the men responding took you seriously.

SmileFace Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 No please tell me the men in this thread are just trolling along as well. I need some kind of hope -_-
serial muse Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) Quite literally, too. Yes, I admit I find it hard to believe that actually happened the way the OP said it did. It sounds like the plot of a soap opera on Univision. I also found the box of stuffing to be a hilarious detail. Box of stuffing! Right on, dude, I love that stuff. Also, how hard is that to cook - the directions are right on the box! Little water, little butter, throw in the dry contents, cover and simmer, and you're done. Shaun-Dro, call me. Edited August 15, 2011 by serial muse corrected tenses, it's very important to get that right
rafallus Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 And I think it wasn't really about dinner. Wasn't it you, that had a topic where some guy was chatting up your gf, and disrespecting you?
Feelsgoodman Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Seems like a bit of a daft reason to split up with someone. I mean big deal if she lied about knowing how to cook. Maybe she just felt embarrassed about not knowing how to. Why would anyone want to date a woman that can't cook??
wezol Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Why would anyone want to date a woman that can't cook?? I married a woman who couldn't cook. Yes, in a way it bugged me. It wasn't the fact that she couldn't cook, it was the fact that she never tried to learn, and just let me do all the cooking, with no appreciation. We had a super bowl party last year, and I was smoking a nice rack of ribs, and making grilled stuffed jalapenos and smoked corn, and sauteing some mushrooms and onions. Never once did she get up and ask if I needed help to make things easier so I could also visit with our company. Her friend came over and helped, and my friend (who is legally blind), also came over and helped. But not my wife. To the women out there, a man likes a woman that either knows how to cook, or at least shows some initiative to learn and doesn't take for granted if the man cooks.
