ilikesunita Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Even though most in society share opinions on attractiveness (Hilary Clinton is seen as less attractive than Kim Kardashian), does this in itself mean that attractiveness is fixed? Could it be that most simply cotton on to what others think? Is there any real evidence that attractiveness is fixed (apart from facial symmetry)?

Author ilikesunita Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 Huh? Fixed attractiveness? Attractiveness that is innate, and not simply personality or socially driven.
sally4sara Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Yes it is somewhat fixed. Its called the "Golden Ratio" and others call it the "Divine Proportion". It is present in almost everything globally considered beautiful from people to architecture to paintings and photography. Someone who closely fits the golden ratio will be found attractive to more people anywhere they go because it has to do with symmetry and proportion as a sign of good genetics.
