quietGuy13 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 My mother is saying she has extremem non ending vein pain. Is this common on 60 year olds? And is there a cure or what is this? Anybody that has parents, have you ever had this happen to your parents?
carhill Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Google 'deep venous thrombosis' as one potential. I dealt with this when I was caregiving, due to my mother's inactivity and dislike for supine sleeping (she slept upright in a chair). I used an apparatus similar to that used in a hospital to prevent leg blood clots (air pump and leg sleeves) to prevent DVT and treat edema, which she did have, both of which can be very painful. A medical professional will have more and better explanations and advice on this potential and others. How's therapy coming along?
Author quietGuy13 Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 She went to dr and they told her doesn't seem to have anything. Her vein flow is fine etc. Just gave her tylenol. . Oh about my therapy? I'll share in the right thread
carhill Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Is she ambulatory? If yes, does she exercise? If yes, how? Thanks, I'll look forward to reading an update
Author quietGuy13 Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 She walks. In fact too much and gets tired. cause she works in labor and doesn't drive. has to go all over town for her work. But now it's hurting her
carhill Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Another common cause of perceived leg pain in people her age is the sciatic nerve pain.
