ScienceGal Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 1) we valued the relationship and enjoyed being part of a "couple". 2) we valued the person and WISH they were the up-on-a pedestal version. 3) our big brains are still in desperation/bargaining mode and we'll do anything to get out of feeling pain. 4) we don't want to be alone. 5) we don't want to "start over" and imagine being with someone new. 1+2+3+4+5 = we don't want "change", because the unknown is scary! Fear not, time will take that imaginary pedestal away!
usabup Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Personally, I put my ex on a pedestall before we even got together. I remember wanting her so badly, then when I finally got her I was beyond happy the whole time we were together. Then I lost her through my own ridiculous mistakes and now she seems more desirable then ever! I laugh to myself at how bad I messed up, but deep down I don't think ill ever get over it.
