... that he'd give my letter a read today. He added that he'd been really busy, that he was "out of town" (my intuition says this is a big fat lie), and that he's going to leave for his hometown in a couple of days.

Just a bit of info about the letter. I wrote it to own up to the one thing I think I might've done to contribute to the failure of our five month relationship (he did the fade out on me so I really don't know why he left in the first place), and to explain my reasons for doing it. I also said that I wish he'd told me what he was unhappy about in the relationship, so that we could've worked on our issues together instead of suddenly disappearing on me. I thanked him for the good memories, and said that if he really wants to permanently end things between us, to no longer reply to my email, because knowing the whys would be useless. I didn't beg or grovel at all. I kept my tone respectful and dignified. For a bit of back story: http://www.loveshack.org/forums/t286288/?highlight=gothowitz

How am I supposed to deal with all of this?

Probably shouldnt have sent it in the first place reading your back story

You have told him that if he wants to end it then not to reply - and then are asking how you are supposed to deal with it as he has not replied positively?

See what i mean about not sending it in the first place ?

His reponse just echoes what has went on in the past

He doesnt have the balls to end it and give you closure so you have to take it upon yourself to get that by never contacting him again

You cant really now after you have sent the letter anyway otherwise you will come across as desperate/needy

So firstly get some self respect and dont contact him again and do not reply to any breadcrumbs
