manders_01 Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I meet someone online, we start emailing or chatting (via a messenger) and very soon after starting talking, he gets WAY too intimate. Calls me by pet names, talks about future events that would happen well into a relationship, sends me nude pics, etc. WTF? Can't you just engage in a normal conversation? Why do people (I will not generalize that only men do this, I'm sure women do too) do this?!? What makes them think that they shouldn't behave in a way that they wouldn't on a first date? Or maybe they would and I just attract less than desirable men. Seriously, major turn off! /endrant
Arasae Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 It bothers me, too. I just chalk it up to a general lack of integrity and no regard for the personal boundaries of other people, and stop contact. After all, if they don't even pause to check to see if you have those boundaries, then where else will they go beyond them without the slightest regard? I once had a guy send me a picture of his b****, right out of the blue with no warning. That was gross. I decided to ignore it, because he seemed nice otherwise and was cute. I kept talking to him and decided to look up his myspace (tells you how long ago this was) to add him as a friend. He freaked out, sent me my previous address, my last name (which I hadn't told him), and then, the kicker, my social security number. Yeah.. like I said, no respect for personal boundaries. x.x;
zengirl Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 If a guy calls me a pet name early on (like in these instances: before you even know each other!), he's out. It's creepy and often patronizing. I've stopped messaging many men on OKC because of it. Also guys who want to meet too soon worry me. Nude pics? I've never had that happen, but I'd definitely be pissed. That's beyond creeper territory.
