Couple hundreds,

I understand you want to write a puff piece about which professions women like, hopefully one that will make you lots of money. But I have a question: 1) who's the intended public of your piece?

I'm weary of these "puff" pieces that stereotype both women and men, such as the kind one finds on askmen. Some people read those like they're the bible, and then come on here and complain about how "Women only like Firefighters" and "how can you get a woman if you're not a firefighter?", etc etc.

This is my way of saying I think you're forcing an honest and varied public to limit their responses to stereotypes, stereotypes that are then going to fuel the fire against this very public. You may not know this forum very well, but the people who do will recognize exactly what I'm talking about. We have a lot of posters here who blame all their problems on how superficial women are. You know what they cite? Blogs or puff pieces published on the internet.

How will you avoid turning women's preferences into a stereotype of "what women want"?

Yes, I'm philosophizing. There's a reason we do philosophy. It makes the world a better place.

I was waiting for this...

First of all I really don't think I am fueling any fire to promote stereotypes. Am I extinguishing one? Nope, I am not doing that either. Stereotyping existed long before I ever touched a keyboard and will exist long after I am gone. You can blame me for being part of the problem if you would like and, I guess there is some truth to that.

Perhaps down the road I can make up for this by figuring out how to save the world and then getting that published... FWIW I do sit on the board of a non profit I help found. This year we have raised over 100k and distributed it to families in need so please don't think I am just some self serving prick.

The article is for a travel magazine. These are mostly free at hotels and are targeted at tourists. Median age brackets (etc) of who the potential readers may be are something I do not know.

While the article is still in my head only, suffice to say that "passion" will be in the ending and even though you have sort of challenged my moral fiber by questioning me I want to thank you for doing so. I think you will enjoy it when I am done.
