U1987 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 So for the past few months, I've been practicing my online dating techniques through some fake POF profiles; they have the same pictures, same description and everything I say about me is true. The only lie is WHERE I am. I blew my first impression with a lot of girls in my area when I first started POF, so I decided to practice writing with girls in other cities by pretending to be from there (also so I could let the girls around here forget about me until I write to them again in the meantime) But I recently found out that some guys actually make fake accounts to learn about potential girls in their area; they find a couple of pictures of a really good looking guy, make up a fake name, career, life story and make a profile around this fictitious guy. They then hit on these girls with these fake profiles, and the girls, thinking they're talking to some successful handsome guy, spill everything about themselves to them; their likes, dislikes, turn-ons, turn-offs, sexual habits; basically everything they don't put on their profile. Then the fake guy bails and the real guy behind the fake profile hits on the girl with all the accumulated knowledge she accidentally divulged. What do people think about this technique? Is this something work investigating?

What do people think about this technique? I think it's low, creepy, immoral, and reeks of desperation. Someone who does this is a stalker.
utterer of lies Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Even if it would work, it still doesn't, because how can you possibly relax and have a good time with a girl if you always have to watch out for what you say, what you do.... either they are attracted to who you are, or they are not. Faking it might get you closer to some girls, but at the price that you won't be able to enjoy it because of all the stress of keeping up the fake appearance. So. Don't go down that path. You are creepy enough already.

sm1tten Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Wtf? seriously? Yet another reason I avoid that cesspool known as POF. Not to mention the fact that even with all that information, if you're still some unattractive and desperate loser she's still not going to go with you.
