Have to confess though I'm finding it really difficult to get my head around "dating" again. I know I have made progress from the quivering wreck that first posted on LS but I just can't see myself being in another relationship-ever. I have met several nice guys and the latest guy I get on really well with but I'm worried that I'm vulnerable and I seem to have lost the knack of knowing if someone is genuinely interested- it all seems a bit muddled and I don't know if I want the hassle of a relationship,anyway. Never thought I'd be dating at this age- it's really odd and I can't talk to anyone about it as all my friends are all in long-term relationships. Does it get easier or should I just quit?
Yookie Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I think you should continue but with a different mindset. Go into these encounters with a light heart and don't take anything too seriously at first. The goal should be just to get out there and connect with people for a mutual fun time. If it develops into a long term relationship then great... but don't put pressure on yourself that everyone you meet has to be THE ONE. Try to have fun with dating and use it as a learning experience. You might just end up with a new circle of friends or maybe even a soul mate down the line. Ether way, most people can add some interesting stimulation to your life in different ways even if the end result is not a romantic encounter.

Forgot to address the bolded: You can tell if someone is genuinely interested when their actions line up with their words. Interested people ACT interested. If you are feeling confused about someone's level of interest then that person has given you a reason to feel that way. Trust your gut feelings.
