You are young, male and Asian.

There's a 90% chance you use too much 'product' in your hair.

Well I'm soon to be 21, white, don't use any hair products (unless shampoo is considered a hair product), no wishes to be asian, no kiddy porn, no reason to have a restraining order on me.

haha nice try though.

lol, glad you can take a joke.

sure there are no pocky sticks in your cabinet? ;)

(you can make fun of me being an overcompensating, slighty overweight, middle aged mercedes driver if you like)

I'm not much into cars. But this one is a guaranteed date getter. In black.

Daphne, if you have that car, I will even go out with you.

(And I will settle for any color. . .)

I live in Chicago, and I don't have a car.

Me too!

One of the reasons I moved here is because you don't need a car here - I hate driving and I don't want the expense, either. My ex has a car, which was nice when I wanted to buy furniture or get big loads of stuff at the grocery store, but I manage just fine without one. My boyfriend doesn't have one.

I generally don't judge people who have cars based on their cars. Before my boyfriend I had two first dates. Guy A drove a nice Audi. Guy B drove a well loved Accord. They were both asshats.

But what would your woman say? Am I picking her up too?

It's a date getter. Don't expect first base, buddy. I don't care whose car it is, as long as your let me drive it.

hers is the Jag XKR rather than the DB9. afaik the two are the same other than badges and logos, the same guy designs them both.

edit: googled and the DB9 has 30 more horsepower, so the difference is slight but there is one apparently.

to be honest, it's pretty damn scary.

i took it out once while visiting for a holiday and got it up to about 150...without realizing it. there was literally no difference between 60 and 150 other than a slight tightening of the steering wheel. it's a pretty amazing car.

I asked for permission and she said, "Hell yeah, it's an effing Aston Martin!!!"

She said she would go out with you instead if you prefer a hot math teacher to a weird guy who posts on internet message boards all day long. . . .

Yeah it is. I once went shopping and saw the jag xkr and liked it. Liked teh Am better though. Could not commit to the jag, because I noticed that I only saw blue hairs driving it. Plus, I'd have to have a backup car for when it's in teh shop. $$

:lmao: :lmao: Thrown over for a car. At least she has good taste.

I think we took this thread in the opposite direction intended.

lol, my stepmother is almost 70, bluehairs i think is the right word.

and yeah, they told her when she got it that if it were ever damaged, the local dealer can't do much (and they don't live in the sticks, they live in new orleans). for anything other than regular maintenance, in particular body work, it has to be loaded on a truck and sent to houston.

not really a feasible every day car.

I live downtown in a bigger city and have often thought about getting rid of my car because I live 2 blocks from my office and can walk to dozens of stores, bars, restaurants, theaters, etc. The MAIN reason I've never pulled the trigger is because of dating. Women generally live in other parts of the city/metro and I have to pick them up and bring them back downtown!

Look into iGo! Or another car-sharing membership in your city (Zipcar is the corporate equivalent to local iGo, I think).

I was a member for a year, and it was great. They have current models of a range of fuel-conserving vehicles, keep them meticulously clean, and have locations all over the city. You can reserve a car by the hour or by the day, and the rates are very reasonable. Even if you use the car multiple times a month, it's still cheaper than owning, maintaining, insuring, and fueling your own vehicle.

It's not necessarily about a BIG CAR. SUV's are not always safer because they rollover and people get there arms and legs severed sometimes in rollovers. It has to do with the FRAME of the car and how it absorbs energy. Mercedes is one of the safest cars because of the crumple zones; I am talking about the sedans like E-Class etc. When it gets in a tiny fender bender it takes a big hit in the frame but that's because it absorbs all the energy. It has nothing to do with size. A cheap small car is not going to be as safe and built like a Benz, even the older Benz's.

i can confirm that, and that's what i drive, an E class.

i was hit in by a volkswagen going about 35-40 miles an hour, and not only did the car suffer minimal damage outside of the body, on the inside it was just a large "thud", there was no whiplash or feeling of a jarring collision or anything like that, you could feel the energy transfer along the frame up 'around' the passenger area, for lack of a better word, it was as if the collision was moving around us.

another example: on a merc, and this is old, they've been doing this for decades, when you close and lock the door a set of steel rods extend from the frame into the door, adding extra rigidity to the door itself. this not only stops rattles and permanently prevents problems with the fit of the door, but acts as a barrier. a friend of my father's was once hit broadside by a 3/4 ton chevy truck going about 60 miles an hour in his S class. the friend and his wife both wound up with broken legs, but they had no permanent injuries. the driver of the truck was dead on impact. and it was the steel rods that saved them, when you looked at the car it was slightly bent, but the rods in the door prevented the car from bending enough to crush the passengers inside, and prevented the truck from driving through the door into the car itself.

If he's male, there's a 99% chance he's still in the closet. If he was out, he'd be driving a Miata or VW convertible.

Now this I actually agree with one hundred percent. I researched a lot about safety and part of the reason I bought a Mercedes because it's safe. Although I read that some of the older ones might be safer than the newer ones. A lot of BMW's are involved in fatal accidents (I used to read Mydeathspace) etc so it's not the safest but sure safer than a Camry. Some cars ARE REAL DEATH TRAPS. I think I read the Miata is one too. I would never ever drive a death trap car; pay more for safety. You seriously do have a better chance of walking alive from an accident in certain cars than others. Many people die because they get in an accident and their cars are death traps. Always read on the crash tests to by the IIHS and government etc

Saying that BMW is unsafe because you've read anecdotal accounts of fatal BMW crashes on some website would be akin to saying that Mercedes is unsafe because Princess Diana died in one. Drive like an idiot and crash at a high enough speed and you're done for even if you're driving the safest car in the world.

In general, BMW, Audi and Mercedes make the safest cars in the world. If you've ever seen what Autobahn collisions look like, you'd know why the Germans put an extra emphasis on safety.

I have. There's also a Hertz car rental a few blocks away. I could easily survive without a car, I'm just not sure I want to. A guy's gotta look good! Especially since I own khakis and buttondowns (not to mention have chest hair), which apparently make me undateable. :(

I don't think the car matters.. at least it never did for me..

I have always driven SUV's.. I keep them normally 5-6 years although the Sequoia I have now is going on 6 years old and replacing it isn't on the budget...

I think as long as it isn't a beater, runs good and is clean, then that is about all a women of substance cares about..

Sure women are attracted to expensive cars... but if a woman is only about the car then she isn't much of a woman.. IMO
