superchiefs Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Ok, so now that it has been 3 months since my fiance dumped me, I think it is time for me to unload the engagment ring. I have an appraisal that says the ring is worth $1900, I only paid $1100 for it. Where should I sell the ring in order to get most of my money back? Ideas that have crossed my mind are ebay, craigslist, the jewelry store where I bought it or a pawn shop.
Yona88 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I wouldn't go pawn shop. I've been ripped off so many times from them lol. What about Ebay?
Chi townD Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Ebay...a friend of mine did it; took the money and went on a vacation to Cozamel, Mexico.
Author superchiefs Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Oh yeah, one good thing about all of this is that I bought the ring in April of 2010 and I see where gold hit $1600 per ounce yesterday and I know gold was no where near that when I bought the ring. So hopefully that helps me get most of my money back.

Art_Critic Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 You do understand that you are going to have to sell it for way less than you paid for it.. the appraisal is for insurance purposes and doesn't denote it's fair market value being sold. You will be lucky to get 500-600 for it... Seriously... and craig's list or ebay.. not pawn. The other thing to remember is to emotionally detach from it.. it will be easier and you won't have sticker shock when you find out how little it is really worth on the free market. If you really want to get rid of it then price it accordingly...
Art_Critic Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 The jewelry store you bought it from most likely will not buy it back.. but they may take it back in exchange for other jewelry. Some have policies like that but normally they are under a year from purchase. Maybe you can get a nice watch and exchange for it if you can get them to agree to it....
marqueemoon4 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 i'm sure my exW has sold the engagement ring I gave her... wow, what a waste of $10gs.
