one goal Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 So tonight we were talking in text some again. Anyways I mentioned how next week is the last week of school and that I might not see her again. Anyways I mentioned to her I understand she's not dating right now, but that I'd like to take her out to lunch after class, or maybe one day in august before school starts take her out and do something. I told her not as a date, but just to do something friendly for her. Anyways she replied back "I dunno, maybe." While I know that still leans towards a NO, it does sound like she's possibly moderating her position a little and maybe wouldn't mind going out as a friendly thing. I know my chances are maybe up to 20 percent now, but its better than what they were. I then told her ok, and said I'll give her time and will talk to her about it next week. I didn't want to sound pushy. Anyways is that at least a slightly positive sign? So what is the next move I make if she agrees to do something? Should I take her out to lunch, dinner, or maybe one afternoon go out and do something fun together instead? like I said I told her not as a date. If things go well what should I expect? Would she at least give me a kiss on the cheek, and maybe one weekend when she's in town during school maybe go out and do something sometimes?
Damien Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 You're thinking much too far ahead in my opinion. From what I've experienced "I dunno, maybe" could mean ANYTHING especially when a girl is saying it (No offence to any of you female LSers). More than anything it seems like a nicer way to say 'no'. Unless you get yourself a definite answer there is no need to make any plans whatsoever because they could end up going to waste.
anne1707 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Anyways is that at least a slightly positive sign? NO, she is just being poilite in how she says "NO" So what is the next move I make if she agrees to do something? There is NO next move as she will not agree to do anything Should I take her out to lunch, dinner, or maybe one afternoon go out and do something fun together instead? NO, NO and NO because she will not go out with you like I said I told her not as a date. If things go well what should I expect? NO do not expect anything because nothing will happen Would she at least give me a kiss on the cheek, Absolutely NO and maybe one weekend when she's in town during school maybe go out and do something sometimes? Still NO
P&R Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Ah, the English language. The word 'maybe' is the less confrontational way to say no.
Cracker Jack Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I agree with anne here. She just doesn't want to outright reject you. Nothing more.
rafallus Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 (edited) So should I be excited? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-LbvFckptY Should I take her out to lunch, dinner, or maybe one afternoon go out and do something fun together instead? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZGcw9HHOkU Edited July 19, 2011 by rafallus You know he won't listen anyway ;)
Citizen Erased Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I dunno, maybe are the words of someone unable to say no to you as you have their contact details and see them on occasion.
