So; One of the things that helped me through the lowest points of my breakup were reading quotes from books and also at the bottom (the signature) of love shackers posts.

Please submit (sorry of that sounds like homework!) one quote that you think might offer help and hope to those currently suffering, I'll go first...

Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars...

i like that, my signature is one i see everyday when I run the 5 mile trail near my apartment

Dont cry when the sun is gone, because the tears won't let you see the stars.

Perish the Universe, provided I have my revenge.

Oh. Uplifting. Right.

My favorite is actually a poem

Hold fast to dreams,

For if dreams die,

Life is a broken-winged bird,

That cannot fly

And then there's always "nothing in this world is unending - except endurance and inner strength"

A coward dies a thousand deaths, the brave die but once

I saw my signature quote by Frida Kahlo a few days after my break up and it spoke to me right away. I like that it's nothing profound, just a simple statement of reality and possibility in a letter to a friend.

Don't worry about the world coming to an end today, it's already tomorrow in Australia.

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us."

Hmmm...most of the quotes I've read recently are about breakups.

"I don't miss him. I miss who I thought he was."

-Unknown

"Watching you walk out of my life does not make me bitter or cynical about love, but rather makes me realize that if I wanted so much to be with the wrong person how beautiful it will be when the right one comes along".

-Unknown

"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving."

-Albert Einstein

"Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without".

-Buddha

"There is no charge for awesomeness...or attractiveness".

-Po

...and one I found to be absolutely hillarious (leave it to Woody Allen!):

"To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering one must not love.

But then one suffers from not loving, therefore to love is to suffer - not to love is to suffer - to suffer is to suffer.

To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer...but suffering makes one unhappy.

Therefore, to be happy on emust love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness".

Are you dizzy yet? :lmao:

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln

"Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." Winston Churchill

...& of course, my sig. Awesome thread btw! :D

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

-Mark Twain

I love your signature quote! I already wrote it in my notebook :)

I also like my signature quote - it's from "The Diaries of Adam and Eve" by Mark Twain. After I read the story, I cried and thought "This is the most beautiful love declaration in the world!" :p

Great input guys. Really great quotes. Another one of my favourites:

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind, some come from ahead, some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles will have trouble with me!

And

Some luck lies in not getting what you thought you wanted but getting what you have, which once you have got it you may be smart enough to see is what you would have wanted had you known.

Keep em comin'

Here's one I have in my FB quotes.

“I must learn to love the fool in me, the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries"

Our constant challenge is not to seek perfection in ourselves and others ,but to find ways to be happy in an imperfect world.
