I met this guy about two weeks ago at my job, I work at a restaurant and he came in with a friend to eat. I was instantly attracted to him but also recognized his face because we have a bunch of mutual friends on facebook. The next day I friend requested him and sent him a message saying "I know this is going to sound creepy, but did you come into my job last night to eat?" He accepted my request right away and wrote back saying "Lol, yeah I did! Were you the one that sat us?" So the messages went back and forth a little bit from there for a day or two, me finding out he is home from college for the summer, asking where he usually hangs out, which is actually the same places I hang out so I threw out there that we should grab drinks one night and he said we totally should. I messaged him on 4th of July asking how his day was going, to which he replied that it was good, he was bbq-ing with some friends just hanging out and asked how mine was. When I told him i was just hanging out at home he said that I was welcome to come to his friends house if I wanted.... I was spending the day with my mom and sister at home so I thanked him for the invite but let him know of my plans. On a Thursday night I text him when I got off work, just starting little chit chat. I asked what his weekend looked like and he said he was working all weekend but asked what I was doing the following night (Friday) I told him I was working. He replied "Bummer...A few friends and I are going to go to this bar for some drinks and wanted to see if you wanted to come with" I told him I would let him know what time I got out, but probably wouldn't be able to make it. So the next day, while at work, I text him that he and his friends should come up to my job for drinks. He said they were actually on their way over but were going to stop at the place across the street from my job first. Shortly after he let me know they were just going to stay over there, but when I got off I should join them. I text him back asking him to come say hi to me since i wasn't off yet... And within five minutes, he walked over with one friend to say hello. This was the first time we actually met face to face since the first night he came in to eat. He told me where they were sitting across the street and when I got off to come over and have a beer. So when I finally got off, I went over & found him. He moved over right away to make room for me, introduced me to his friends. One of his guy friends said "Derek told me he met someone across the street, but I assumed it was a bus boy" and tried to make little jokes to embarrass him. He offered me a beer and made me feel welcome. I didn't feel like na outsider, he pretty much paid attention to me and made converstaion with me the whole time. His friends didn't seem to dislike that there was a new person in the group. He also pointed out another friend and said "I told Brett I met someone across the street and he asked me who since he used to work over there and when I told him your name he said he knew you" We only hung out about forty minutes and then his friends wanted to go to one of thier houses and hang out. I had a friend giving me a ride home, so when Derek asked if I wanted to come along, I thanked him for the invite but said I wouldn't be able to. His friends were trying to convince me saying "Come on, you aren't going to come for Derek... You gotta come hang out" Our bill came and I went to take money from my purse but he stopped me and said "Are you kidding me? I would NEVER let you pay... How culd I invite you for drinks, offer you a beer and then ask you to pay. Put your money away, are you crazy? I'd never do that" I text him that night and thanked him again for the beer and told him it was nice meeting him. He wrote me back that it was nice meeting me too and he was glad we got to hang out. Sunday morning I got a text around eleven saying Hey Whats up. I replied and he said he was going to head to the beach shortly, would I like to join him. I already had plans being that it was my day off, so I let him know that, thanked him for the invite and told him I hoped it was a great day at the beach for him. Later that night I text him asking him to please wish his friend a happy birthday for me (because i knew they were all going out) and he wrote back and said "He said thank you! Are you coming out with us?" But I wasn't able to make it, which I let him know. Tuesday afternoon I text him and said "Hey, I'm off tomorrow and am planning on going to the beach.... Would you like to join me?" and shortly after that said "Or we can just go for drinks at night if you'd rather do that instead" he wrote back "I'm down for whatever." So Wednesday morning I text him about the beach and he said he wouldn't be able to make it out there as early as I was going but probably could meet up with me a little later on. Being that it was so hot, after forty minutes at the beach, my friend & I decided to leave so I sent him a text letting him know we were leaving, but said I'd still like to do drinks that night. He wrote back and said "Alright. That's fine with me. I'm headed to the beach now" I text him about eight o'clock that night and said "Drinks at World Of Beer at 10pm" and it took him til 9:45 but he wrote "I don't think I'm going to be able to make it out tonight :/" I said "Aww, bummer, how come?" and he told me "My aunt is in town and we are hanging at the house.." So I said "Oh ok... Well what if I come kidnap you for one drink and then bring you home? I'm buying... lol" He said "Lol, thank you, but I can't" so I ended it with "No worries. But I owe you a drink for the other night so another time it's on me" And then I heard no more from him after that.... That was all last night. I know there isn't a lot to go off of, I've only known him two weeks at most and we only hung out an hour at most. I don't usually feel like this about guys so quickly... It's usually that if I find a guy physically attractive, it just isn't a big deal to me whether or not we hang after that because that's all they are to me, is a pretty face. It takes a lot to attract me mentally, or to the point where I want to spend my time around someone because I'm quite happy being single doing my own thing... So the fact that this guy has really taken my interest after such a short period of time, says something to me. Looking back, it definitely seems as though I've turned him down more than he has me... And he may be thinking I was lying on some of those, although I really wasn't. But I guess I'm a little worried about the "My aunt's in town..." text... Do guys usually make up a lie like that when blowing a girl off? Or would he have gone with something like "Im really tired from the sun today" Or just not responded at all.... ? I know if I'm not interested in a guy, most of the time I just don't respond to the text... I was just hoping maybe you could let me know your opinion or advice. You think maybe he was blowing me off because he felt I blew him off a couple of times? Does it sound like an honest reason for not being able to make it. Do the things like inviting me to the beach and telling a few of his guy friends he "met a girl" mean anything...? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Phew, my eyes are hurting. Where is indentation!!

Anyhow, I'd say the interest is mutual, but you should stop playing hard to get even if you are not. It almos sounds like you guys play ping-pong.. pass the ball in each other's court. and this is the part where the guy and the girl misunderstand each other and distance themselve from each other. So, make some time and actually meet him. call him instead of text him-

However, after all he is home from college for the summer.. so you need to take this into account as well. you might end up getting hurt.. good luck!
