I know you like this girl a lot somedude, and it'd be great if it all worked out but it's nice to hear you'll move on if she doesn't kiss you back.

You've definitely put in time.

A mall date? And then video games?

I thought you were a grown man?

I agree with veggirl...

Accept her invitation to dinner. Spend the day with her, have fun, flirt a little. Then go to the dinner with her, meet the family, continue to flirt and have fun. Invite her back to your place afterwards... or if you're driving, ask if she'd like to rent a movie or something and hope she invites you to her place. That's when you can make a move.

LOL, that's debatable :lmao:

Either way she's only 21 and likes to play video games.

And no, I really wouldn't call this a date.

She lives with her family, about 30 min from me.

There's no way I can take her home for dinner then back to my place.

Agreed! Going to the dinner, and you NOT acting buddy/buddy (veggirl describes this above very well) could help re-frame the relationship in her mind.

Go eat!

^^Yes.

Go.to.the.dinner somedude.

GO TO THE DINNER!!!

It's called having fun.

Not to mention growing up leads to growing old, and then to dying. Who wants to die?

Stay young while you can, if anyone has any problems with it it's because they're jealous.

As a grown woman, going to the mall and then home to play video games does not sound like a fun date to me. At all.

I get that. But I assumed it was what his girl wanted to do too.

Me neither. But, my first date with my fiance was to an economics convention. I had a blast, most people probably wouldn't. Different strokes I suppose.

And this girl is 21, she's still young.

I totally agree. Being/acting old just = boring to me.

Difference being, a mall date is a pretty juvenile activity. I mean, I'm thinking about the people who hang around the mall for socialization, and can't imagine how a grown adult man would belong in "that world."

He's a grown man, and should be dating someone closer to his age.

Not enjoying mall dates does not make an adult boring, I assure you. I don't have trouble finding dates with fun, entertaining, adult men who carry themselves as such. Keep that in mind, Ross.

I think his lack of experience makes him self conscious around women his own age, you can see it in some of his threads. Which, I think is somewhat natural.

I tend to not make value judgments on what makes people happy, unless it's something illegal.

If it "clicks" between them, then what's the problem exactly? I don't think 9 years is an earth shattering difference. They're both adults. By your reasoning Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore had no business becoming a couple at their ages due to the age difference. It seems to be working great for them so far.

Exactly who are you to judge his potential romance/good time? From my (very) limited observations, you're one of the more negative people here. Is it so hard to be happy for someone else and wish them the best without feeling the need to spout off judgmental bile?

Yeah, those comments don't mesh up with beauty shown on her pics (even sans face) :p

If the girl OP dates with is having fun, who the hell cares?

Oh, the irony in this post!

I would suggest that the OP:

1. Date someone his own age;

2. Date by engaging in date-like activities that are age-appropriate.

That is all. Don't get your panties in a bunch there, bro.

That has yet to be seen, hasn't it? Hence why I have suggested he, a grown man, consider taking his dates out on actual dates, rather than meandering around a mall like a teenager.

I can go find a similar thread where all the people bashing me in this one told another poster that a mall date was a very, very bad idea. Or you can just take my suggestion for what it's worth: a mere suggestion. Meh.

Hey now, maybe I like my panties bunched up! There you go bein' all judge-y and shyte again. :D

Indeed. I would agree.

I appreciate the devil's advocate bit. :) But the difference is, 21 is just 3 years out of high school. He's a grown adult man at 30, at least.

There's a huge difference between a 21 and 30 year old, and the same 9-year difference later in life. Otherwise, would you suggest it would be okay if he were 20 and dating an 11 year old?

Well see I seem to recall that in one of the "inexperienced" threads from a few months ago you said you'd never date an inexperienced guy, which is what the OP is. The OP is close to your own age, since your view is mostly in the mainstream, what makes you think women his own age would even be interested? He might as well try to date younger women to at least get some experience under his belt (although he does seem to genuinely like this girl).

You can't compare a 20 year old dating a child to a 30 year old dating a 21 year old. A 21 year old is an adult, an 11 year old isn't.

I met my ex when I was twenty, and he was twelve years older than me. We stayed together for three and a half years and age was hardly ever an issue. A nine year old age difference isn't necessarily that much, depending on the individual.
