Hello everyone!

I'm 31 years old woman, and I live in Saudi Arabia. I'm single and never fell in love. ever!

As some of you know that in Saudi Arabia, dating is not part of our culture, people get married through arranged marriage. I'm not saying it's wrong or that I'm against it, not at all! because it worked for many people and my parents are a perfect example.

But for me personally, marriage is a huge step and something that you can't just try it and leave it anytime you like, it's something that you should stick to and will effect your life in a big way...! so, marrying someone that I've never met before or knowing almost nothing about is something that's hard for me to do.

So far, I have a successful life...I have my job and I'm completing my education in University, means that I have a plan for my future and I'm working on it. So, I don't want to risk loosing that by marrying a [stranger].

As I mentioned earlier, I can't go on dates...that's why I've tried to meet people online, I've signed up in some online dating websites, but I didn't like the idea.

I guess my question is...how can I find good person online who's serious about having a future with me?

Note: I'm not looking for someone from my country, I'm open to get to know anyone...as long as he's a good person and can understand me

Thanks!!

Hiys Desert Rose, first off - welcome to LS :)

I completely understand what you mean, my parents are both married through arranged marriage, really common in Asian cultures. I am the same as you and want join the norm and 'date' etc.

Well, honestly the only way I see you finding someone serious online is you keep trying. There is a lot of riff-raff there but there should really be some nice guys that want a long-term relationship.

There is also an alternative to the regular dating sites: Marriage / Matrimony websites. I know a few people around here that go on those since they're just jumping straight to marriage. But what I'm trying to say is, these sorts of websites *should* be filled with people that have marriage in mind.

Hope this helped, good luck ^^

Are your parents planning to arrange a marriage for you in the future? And are you trying to beat them to it by meeting someone before they do it?

Thank you Damien for your advice! ;)

hello Nexus One!

well, thankfully... my parents usually don't force me on anything, and there were some guys who asked for my hand and I've refused.

we are 4 sisters, and I'm the 2nd one. My eldest sister got married 2 years ago, so, there's still the 3 of us... my 2 younger sisters are about to get married, so my parents are focusing on that at the moment and not really paying attention on me (which is good)

but I'm afraid that after my sisters get married, my parents will start to put pressure on me...
