Wow... I'd rather die than offer my beliefs in God up for a mere mortal!!! Does she think you will love her forever and ever and that you are always going to make her happy?

It is a scary thing when any mere mortal depends on another mere mortal for all their happiness...

she was probably lying, I didn't believe her for one second.

& you probably shouldn't use religious references because they're irrelevant as far as I'm concerned since I'm an atheist, no offense.

But are you done dating atheist nuts?

I'm not a fan of nuts in general.

how can you be an atheist nut?

it kinda denotes "yeah whatever, leave me alone".

it's pretty hard to be militantly atheist.

that's why it's a deal breaker. if someone doesn't believe in God, it's unfathomable that you could put emphasis on something above them, that they don't even believe exists.

as an agnostic whose only faith in in scientific explanations, our beliefs change every few years. 20 years ago it was debatable whether black holes even existed. now we know there's one at the center of every galaxy. there is no faith whatsoever. there is no belief of mine that isn't subject to change if someone proves otherwise.

so there's no way i can be with someone every day who unquestioningly believes in something that i can't see and values that belief above myself. not that there's anything wrong with that, i just don't know why people even try to date across religions, it's bound to become a huge issue.

My response to all religious quacks, "I hope they serve beer in hell." Religious women are typically prudes in the bedroom. I'm not going to spend more than 3-4 dates to get in any woman's pants anyway. Then she's getting kicked to the curb. At least the weirdo Astrology fruits put out. I only want freaks on my team.

I had an ex take me to one of those fire and brimstone type churches with a long list of instructions on what I could and could not talk about if anyone spoke to me. He didn't want them knowing he drank or anything like that. Somehow I got shuffled right up to the front row (convenient, right?). I don't know how anybody understands a word the preacher says at places like that. The come on down moment scared the hell out of me.

Anyway, by the time the preacher had his shoes off and spit was flying in my face it was all I could do to keep from running out the back door. I couldn't get out of that place fast enough.

I think it was an attempt at conversion.

Needless to say that didn't work out...the conversion or the relationship.

While I do claim to be Christian, I'm sort of jumbled on my beliefs. I'm dating a guy right now that thinks religions are all crazy and that suits me just fine. He can believe whatever he wants and I can have my jumbled up beliefs and we can bop on in religious harmony.

The second one lied about his name, his age and many other things. It turned out that he was trying to hide an extensive criminal record. He attended church, so I guess that made it all okay in his pea brain.

in the words of one of my business partners, "those bible thumpers can justify anything up to and including murder, as long as they have a prayer meeting afterward".

lol, you're welcome. and it's true. the bad ones are as bad in business dealings as they are in their personal lives. it's easy to be a terrible person when you have a couple hundred people who tell you twice a week that you're better than everyone else no matter what you do.

I believe in God and I pray, however I believe that the best church is in your heart. If my marriage does not work out, I will steer clear of religious men. They are all liars IMO.

Paraphrasing your very own response from another thread:

You know me very well, for someone who has never even met me.

And probably quite a few men can say the same.

lol. Exactly what I'd expect from a Christian. It's always their way or the highway. Honestly, I've always wondered what it would be like to date a Christian. I'm agnostic & I'd like to know if one were to even try to convert me. While it would be a waste of time, just an interesting dilemma.

@Lady Day,

That's just like a Christian. They have premarital sex but only w/ a fellow Christian & then they can somehow justify their "sins" because they go to church.

they would, and if you didn't go along they'd lie, cheat, get abusive, etc at best. if your curiosity gets the better of you be VERY careful. for all of their moral grandstanding the bad ones lack the morality that everyone else does, because they have the crutch of religion to justify themselves with.

what do you think happens when a sexually frustrated self perpetuating contradiction of a person gets a woman around for the first time in a few years?

the previous owners of my house were that type of people, jesus picture on the wall over the fireplace, bible on every coffee table, the mail that didn't get forwarded to them was all from religious political organizations, etc.

their son has about 20 left on his 35 year sentence for multiple rapes.
