I am coming on 6 months with my boyfriend and I want to do something special for him. I am a rotten cook and hate shopping so I thought of writing a love letter. One of my special talents is being able to write from the heart.

Our relationship is pretty solid and there is a lot of love between us. I have a wellspring of love and regard for him.

I haven't written a love letter in 15 years and with the internet age, I don't even know if people do that sort of thing. Usually I create rage comics and e-mail them to him. But I'd like to bust out pen and paper and express myself.

My question for the men and women of LS: Would this be a welcome gesture or not in step with the times?

I think that's an excellent idea! My girl and I were writing each other love letters well before the 6 month mark. I love receiving hand written notes from her. I'll bet your guy will be touched by such a thoughtful gesture.

Great Idea!

Do it! I wrote a love letter to my husband a few months after we started dating and he loved it. My ex and I used to write each other letters too. Nothing super long & drawn out, but more than just a cutesy "I love you! <3" on a post-it.

Definitely do it. It sounds really romantic. He'll love it.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I was thinking of putting it through the mail to him. The only problem I foresee is him not getting the letter. The mailboxes in his building are a disorganized mess.

Maybe, I'll slip it in his laptop case or something like that.

I've done that before and it was well received.

Slipping it somewhere (but somewhere you KNOW he will see it) sounds like a good strategy.

Cee, I would absolutely love and treasure the symbolism and sentiment of a thoughtful love letter from my partner. I have a hard time imagining a more touching gift.

Of course, I am also a writer and a big sentimental girl besides, so I might be more the perfect target audience than your boyfriend is.
