I'm in Australia he is in America.

I was thinking of sending him

* I've checked if this is allowed and it is so.. 1 packet of tim tams (I've heard they have them in America, I've read it actually from people in other forums, but to the American friends that I have, and my boyfriend, they've never heard of it or seen it and my boyfriend likes chocolate so I've told him he has been missing out and I want to show him what he is missing out on :p)

* A movie. I know for a fact he doesn't have this movie, I am a movie nerd, I have like a zillion movies, he watches some every now and then but doesn't have a huge collection like me, and this isn't something I exepct him to sit down and watch the whole thing. There is one scene in this movie, that when he watches it, he will laugh his head off as it's an inside joke between us and I was thinking of just putting a post-it-note infront telling him which scene to skip so he doesn't feel like he has to sit through the whole thing if he doesn't want to, as I really only want him to see this certain scene. (might not make much sense to you all lol but I know he'll get it when he sees it)

* Something "Australian-ish" lol! ummm yeah I'm unsure...maybe a keyring for his house keys or car keys with the shape of australia or in the shape of an Australian icon like the harbour bridge or opera house, or...yeah I'm kind of lost on this one but I'd like to send him something that he'll look at it and know it's from here. (help? lol)

Obviously this is nothing expensive or for any special reason, just something fun that I think (and hope) he will like.

But I would love opinions if you think it's all just stupid or think it's something you wouldn't like recieving.

That's really sweet! I'm sure he'll appreciate them. Funnily enough, my friend just brought Tim Tam's from Oz for me here! lol, they're yummy!!

I think it's a lovely idea, and you should do it:)

If you send him a movie on DVD just make sure it's playable in the US. There are different formats used around the world for videos and unless he has a multi-region DVD player he won't be able to play/watch it if it's not the correct format.

I say go for it, it's a sweet gesture to let him know you're thinking of him. :)

I think they all sound like great ideas, but have to agree with the above poster. Make sure he can view the DVD in the US. I like the idea of a small Australian artifact, because not only does it show him you are thinking of him but he'll be able to look at it and think of you as well. ;)

I've been re-thinking the DVD idea as I knew but had completely forgotten about not knowing if it'll work over there or not and because I want it to be a surprise so I don't want him knowing he'll be getting something and therefore don't want to ask him about it lol I have been looking around and thinking what else I can add in there.

Thank you all for the replies :)

It's no big deal to make sure you get the right version. All you need to do is buy a "Region 1" DVD which means it will be playable in the US and Canada.

Buy one off eBay. Most sellers list what region the DVD is for in the description of their listings.
